This seems believable:

Body mounted provide better clearance than frame mounted. I wouldn't touch any body mounted slider that also attached to the frame in any way. The body is mounted on soft bushings and moves relative to the frame. Mounting a slider to the body and frame is sure to cause body damage. Sometimes a frame mounted slider can interfere with a long arm lift as well.
It really comes down to design and construction. I have seen body mounted sliders that look like they can take a beating (Nemesis Billy Rocker for one). I have also seen frame mounted sliders that create a huge lever arm to the frame. I have seen the frame damaged at the mounting points after a big hit. With any frame mounted slider you need to leave enough clearance for body movement or the body will hit them and get damaged. This usually requires a 1" or more gap. I have seen small rocks kicked up and get wedged between a frame mounted slider and the body (guess what happens now when the body moves relative to the frame). I have seen designs that look similar, but one is made from DOM and the other HREW. So you really have to look to the details to before making a decision.
