I blew a dash speaker so wanted to upgrade all the speakers. I don't have premium sound and the speakers are absolute paper mâche garbage. Boo Jeep. Problem with the 4" speaker is that it has a 3 bolt pattern and every aftermarket 4" speaker is a 4 bolt pattern. Again boo Jeep. SSV Works has an adapter for a 6 1/2-6 3/4" speaker.
There's a metal plate that is used as a template to trim the existing speaker assembly. I used a box cutter and a mini hacksaw.
The metal plate then screws into remain plastic.
The speaker pod bolts into existing nuts that the O.E.M. speaker cover bolted into. There is also 2 nuts on the steel plate to bolt into.
And the final product. I chose Pioneer TS-A652F 3way speakers.

For all you Debbie Downers out there, I get it. For truly better sound I need to hook these up to an amp and a real equalizer...coming soon. They still sound better than the factory speakers.
