I do IT stuff so I can buy Jeep stuff.
Looks like that donkey is running spacer lift shoes ... has to have death wobble! The dog won't even get in and ride shotgun .... that's got to tell you something for sure.

Just got to work.

Any pics?
They'll look a lot better on your work PC with that big screen setup they furnish you in IT, eh?

Tires can definitely play a role in economy both pattern and weight. But you’re tracking less than what I get and I’m rolling a 37.

I wouldn’t say pushing the tank for 18-18.5. The light is literally just coming on. Can follow up in a month or two when artech skids are installed. I have a haunch that we have 20 gallon tanks with 1.5-2 gallon reserves as a HPFP safety…..
And I’ve had a gladiator ecodiesel for comparison with 37’s … I’m about the same as that.

I did a MPG run, got the truck up to 70, set cruise, reset MPG-O-Meter, drove about 15mi on flat freeway and got 24.6mpg …

You’re a brave one, I’ve never used more than 17.5-ish. The tank is rated at only 18 gallons.

You have to ask that? Heck yes!

Changing tire weight, width, going to a more aggressive tread, absolutely.
I lost mpg just going from my stock tires to 3/4" wider A/Ts - of the same diameter and weight.
Tread matters! Width adds to rolling resistance.

So I guess we could sum it up, all in fun - with a DUH ?
The question was included “THAT MUCH” as in do stock wildpeak mt tires take an extra 20% fuel? I think that’s a no. Like I said, I went from 32” ko2 to 33x10.50 KM3 (mud terrains) and my 05 LJ still get he same MPG. It didn’t care, same crap MPG, haha.

He’s developing the negatives as we speak.
You guys are funny … like I said earlier, I can’t get a good picture … the hard top is kind of in the way.

Thanks for this. It’s actually larger than 17. When the light kicks on and topping off to the neck it’s consistently 18-18.5 gallons.

So your economy has dropped to
Roughly 20mpg @70mph.

Do they use winter fuel in your area? Stock tires-or the ecu accounting for larger?

20 is what we see in town, 22 on highway with larger tires.

when you refill is it the same station most of the time?
I’m in Phoenix, I don’t think we switch diesel. But I do not know.

I actually did a MPG run, got up to speed on the freeway, set cruise to 70mph, reset the MPG meter, drove for 15miles or so on flat freeway, before decelerating I took note of the meter and it was 24.6mpg.

Let's be honest here though. Without pictures, this could easily be something along the lines of that "frame damage" thread where it isn't actually damage. No way to know, because without a picture it's just another cool story.

lol, I saw that… facepalm thread… the intent of this thread was not a diagnosis or validation, but rather if anyone has seen roll bar damage. And if so, what was the outcome.

It literally looks like someone beat it with a hammer, the dents not terribly deep, but the metal is pretty thick, it’s a perfect line so it must be a tool or fixture that just missed. It has perfect paint on top so it was totally damaged before paint.

And you properly adjusted the tire size using a tazer, JSCAN or AlfaOBD and checked that number using the odometer against a GPS app or speedometer app on your phone, and you can drive 20 miles according to the trip odo on your Jeep and get 20 miles on the GPS - they match?
And you are calculating this over several tanks - not just one single tank?

Because unless you have done the above - the discrepancy is likely user error.

On the other hand, you mentioned an OLD LJ and only changed size, not tire type - so why are you comparing? Apples and rocks.

No kidding! I just worked an 80hr work week and these guys are pestering me for “pics” like I their girlfriend or something. Lol
Gee, how many years did I work hours like that......... up until midnight, up again at 5:30 the next day to start it all over again............ and Saturdays and Sundays at times.
My second job as a mechanic, your normal, not OT, not once in a while, but normal hours were 54/week. And then when farming who the hell counted - you were at work 24/7.

You guys are funny … like I said earlier, I can’t get a good picture … the hard top is kind of in the way.
If you have a cell phone made in the last decade and can point and click.......... have you seen the detailed photos I get - without even trying? Pics of stuff up under the dash, wiring buried deep in some recesses.
If you can see it, so can a cell phone camera. In fact, they can do better - the camera function of my Google phone is totally amazing.

You acted like you were really upset about it - if that's the case, then I'd suspect some effort could be made to spend 2 minutes with a phone.

LOL - there's the problem - cruise control doesn't care about engine load or efficiency - it has one single goal - maintain constant speed, period.
A human can get better mpg than cruise - my wife and I have proven it over many Jeeps, thousands of miles.

You are basing it off that drive and the "mpg meter".
That's just wrong. You have to check over multiple tanks - and for all we know, you had a 5 mph wind against you.
Face it, mpg at 70 isn't something Jeeps are known for. For that matter, nothing gets best mpg at 70 with cruise on.

Going by your description - we still can't say if what you claim as "damage" really is, or how bad. And you aren't helping by insisting only on your description which can be very subjective. What you see as bad and damage others may shrug off.
In the time all of these responses were typed, I'd have at least 4 or 5 very detailed pictures of the area. if YOU can see it, so can a camera.
