I'm on my phone and don't have my glasses handy, but looks like they broke the axle tube at the FAD housing.
That's gotta suck.

How the absolute hell do you do that?! Seen similar on IFS jumping but never a solid axle splayed out on both sides like that. Must have been a “Hold muh bur” moment.
Typically this is the fad plug weld failing, it's almost always after a violent up travel that bottoms out the bump stops. That axle is toast.

I would've asked but no one except other spectators were around. The hardest obstacles here are giant dropoffs which are pretty much for buggies. Makes me wonder if they accidentally tried to go down one not realizing and all that weight from their gear, plus who knows what in that camper shell, was too much for that FAD.

I don't want to say this is common but it's not hard to find a bunch of this exact failure if you search especially on the JL forum. The JL/JT d44 with fad really benefits from a good truss as the tubes themselves are nice and thick but the plug weld being the weak link. I've never seen a properly trussed one fail like this

If they don't use this as an opportunity to get portals, are they really Jeeping?
