You've got it backwards. That's the quote from Rhino (which you linked, not RLD) who under-quotes the actual spec. Though I guess technically they didn't since ">325lb" still includes over 700.

This is the quote from RLD's website:

So even if it's not 770, it's still far and away better than RSI.
Ha! You're right! My bad. I'm going to remove my post. Thanks for the correction.

I apologize if this is a thread hijack - but why are you folks focused on RSI and RLD but aren't looking at Alu-Cab as well? Is it because you have a preference for stainless steel? If so, why? I understand that the thread is titled "RSI Smartcap" (so maybe its just a place to discuss RSI) but I'm wondering if there is a reason folks are not considering the aluminum topper from Alu-Cab. I've had fiberglass toppers - but never aluminum or stainless steel, so I am new to the RSI/RLD/Alu-Cab world.

I think it's mostly a discussion between the two regarding load capacity and the Alu-Cab is lower than both.

The RSI is also crazy good looking.

Was looking at all three...the lines of the RSI and RLD are far more complementary, and I won't lie in saying why I looked away from the ALU-CAB....

Looking forward to my RSI delivery confirmation.

Yeah, I guess the Alu-Cab has a face only a mother could love ;) But it is significantly lighter than the steel toppers... I guess your choice depends on the relative importance to you of weight vs. strength, and then looks, which is - of course - subjective. And then there's price...

Does anyone have any experience with the style of locks used by RSI/RLD/Alu-Cab? I have not seen any of these three toppers in person, but the locks seem similar - and very different from your typical fiberglass topper. I've had the basic locks on my fiberglass toppers freeze-up. This can be due either to the handle freezing in place from ice (which you can usually break free) or due to ice in the lock itself (which is a problem). I carry lock de-icer in the truck for the second case. It was -3 degrees (Fahrenheit) at my house yesterday morning (October 27), and it is regularly -20 or colder in January & February, so this matters to me. I see a potential for the entire locking mechanism on the RSI/RLD/Alu-Cab to freeze shut. I'd love to hear people's experience with these style of locks. Thanks!

Has anyone done or seen a setup with the RSI using RTT (iKamper) and Awning? Trying to decide on pulling the trigger on the RSI, but wasn't sure on all the mounting points.

There are no "mounting points". There are two slots that accept standard feet found on load bars and racks. You will need one of those options in order to affix your RTT to the cap.

Likewise, you can't mount an awning directly either. You will need a bracket to come off your load bar or rack.

The Toyota version is out there already I believe, you could look on a Tacoma forum. To my knowledge Rick Weber , a RSI regional sales manager, has the only gladiator with one in the US, rest of us are waiting. Tops are supposed to be in our hands in next couple weeks (We hope). The RSI has two tracks on the roof for mounts racks and such to, it is shown on the website.......Jack

Just went in on Monday and paid for mine in full, just awaiting it's arrival in Conroe, Texas. Getting Rock Slide Engineering electric sidesteps installed next Tuesday, then it's going to be time for the winch bumper and winch, and then, and then, and then........

Do you know when you're expecting it? I'm in Colorado Springs and was told tomorrow or maybe early next week, but haven't heard anything more yet.

Haven’t heard a date yet, but they were expecting them in pretty quick. I’m just sitting over here trying to be patient.

Same here. Seem to be getting orders every two weeks now, and shipping out in order of deposits. Getting VERY close!

Anyone on here have one in hand yet (unlikely given no posts :) ) or given tracking/shipping info?. I was given notice of the shipment arrival on the 22nd of Oct and an invoice for the remaining amount. Estimated time to clear the port and start shipping to consumers ~2 weeks. So there should be some arriving or at least starting to ship to people at this time.

SOOOO close.
