I only lock it when we have bicycles inside on trips. But even just the latches will freeze solid if it's cold enough. Silicon lube does really help though.

That's good to know though. I only used silicone because the locks were getting a little stiff this summer and that's my go-to product for locks.

Well I’ll let y’all know how I end up liking it, after 8 months I’ve thrown in the towel on my order. Picking up a Contour instead since I found one available sooner. But you’re right, I still think the RSI is the better looking one.
I ended up waiting 9 months for mine, I got it in September, and after having it a couple months, I can tell you I absolutely love it. I am very glad I stuck it out. The Jeep looks fantastic with it, and it's extremely useful.

Yup this. But I don’t understand that. “Because it’s modular”. Is the Ali cab contour not? I haven’t read about needing to tighten bolts on that.

Not Trying to knock on RSI because the overall reviews seems solid but I’m in early stage prep trying to decide if I want a canopy or rack and if canopy, Smartcap or Alu cab
I went from a rack to the RSI smart cap, and I am extremely happy, even having to wait 9 months, super frustrating, but so worth it.

Had to get some tailgate wrap repair done on the JT and decided to try wrapping the doors with black on black topo from Adventure Life Decals. Reached out to the them and they cut me a couple pieces for the doors. Came out pretty good. The matte finish isn't as noticeable live as in the pic - sun is reflecting off it. Very subtle but hopefully a nice touch for the doors.

I love that! I have been contemplating either a topo or a subtle camo for the doors.

Mounting Rotopaxs to the exterior of my RSI Smartcap (not on a roof rack). Has anyone done this before? Any thoughts or suggestions? I’m wondering if it is possible to obtain a mount that would clamp to the gull-wing glass side doors or on the rear hatch?

This is why I'd love the option to buy a single solid door option (from whichever matches our glass door) as an after purchase option. I'd happily pay for it, and would then allow a drill through for mounts. Following.....

I am surprised @SmartCap doesn't have EvoA doors as a replacement part you could buy.

I try "bugging" them every month or so....
Rsi told me that’s why their caps are modular so you can replace pieces if you go offroad and damage it. Maybe it’s something you have to contact them about vs just being able to go online and order one. I mean you can’t even get a cap from them right now, so I doubt they would sell pieces.

For all of you with frozen lock issues. I HAD that issue but with a little bit of understanding why it’s happening, get yourself a can of dry lube with Teflon and you won’t be having anymore issues. Even if you’re not experiencing frozen lock issues, this will help prolong the tumblers and rid the feeling of roughness when cycling the locks.

My locks froze up and I used 3 in 1 oil to de-ice them. The next freezing day, the locks were still free.

On another note, my wife tends to use the back locks and the locks on the side with the freezer. When she tried to open the side hardly opened the key could not be inserted. Again with the 3 in 1 oil, and it freed right up. That is how I discovered it worked with the locks freezing up. These two worked when the others froze up.

I mentioned a couple of weeks ago that I had lubed my locks this summer with silicone with good results.

Well, after driving 100 miles in salty, slushy mess up north and then leaving the truck to freeze up overnight I had some minor issues.

The latches and locks were a bit stiff. The key went in and turned with some slight resistance. The latch wouldnt' release but some gentle pressure with the key still in the lock opened it just fine.

I keep silicone under my back seat so I hit all the locks and latches with a spritz and everything is good. Its definitely a winter maintenance item. Its not too annoying. Just stay on top of it.
