Only the back corners.
Cool, thanks! Ill be putting the taller ones in tomorrow...just have 0.5" right now but might go a couple thinner strips to add to it.

I didn't realize the ones supplied by RSI had adhesive - the new ones I got do not, hopefully that won't really matter.

Thanx JBahr, everytime someone posts we get better info. My question is we are saying the RSI pads are 1/2” they are not they are 3/8”, and if I were to use( I am considering) some of the thinner pads meant to be on top of the rail but under the clamp and add them to the 3/8” pad I still am only at 1/2”.
My concern with what I ordered (2-9/16 strips five feet long) and is coming is it is medium density neoprene, tough stuff but perhaps with a roof top tent pushing down it might compress more and still have the same issue. Plus if you guys are complaining about RSI , I am getting nothing from the rubber warehouse where I ordered, could be weeks with boxes in garage !
The two pictures show the pads I got , and also if I add one of the other pads to it.

Beacuse our initial units were shipped before the clearance issue was discovered, the initial pads were thinner. As we went to solve the issue, we initially tested 1/2" and found that while the clearance was better it still wasn't as good as it could be. We added another 16th of an inch to it and wa-laa, the clearance was right where we wanted it. Given that, we recommend you use a 9/16" spacer near the tailgate to ensure proper fitment. I have attached some picts and a video of our teammate Rick's Gladiator as reference. If you are worried about the material you purchased compressing down more, go up to 5/8" with it and see how that does.

Thanks, I've decided to use the thin strips that were meant to prevent scrathes from clamp, and use some thinner rubber material I have laying around. Brother and son in law are coming by tomorrow to get it done.......Jack

Front and rear flange...huge PITA. But overall, it’s an incredible product.

Hell yeah they were haha. I'm glad someone else can now understand my pain. Doing the side flanges first gave me a false sense of security.

Not to turn anyone off from assembling it themselves of course. It was far from a showstopper, but it did take some patience.

Looks great!

Definitely no intention to deter self installation. But, for those who are going to do it. Prepare yourself. Lots of kneeling and stooping. Get yourself a nice set of high dexterity gloves. My finger tips and thumbs are pretty sore from the flanges. My only complaint, and it matters very little now, there were a couple bends in the seam of the flanges. So mating it together wasn’t super easy. I was able to get it together well enough to flip and mount. Once upright and on the bed, everything lined up and I could torque it down. I don’t blame RSI though. It’s definitely just the uncertainty of shipping during these difficult times. The cap is everything it’s been hyped up to be.

All I need now is for RSI to get my rack and bin here. It won’t stop me from camping though. I’m just going to sleep in the bed.

Your Gladiator looks fantastic!!! I know some people decide to do things their own way, but I can tell you from experience (I think I've personally been involved with around 7 installations) having 2 people during assembly and 4 people for installation on the vehicle is recommended for good reason. The installation goes way smoother. Including how sore your fingers get!!!

I had a helper for assembly but he let me do all the wrenching. Basically a placeholder. Lol. Then we lifted with 3. I do recommend the 4th person.
I did not however solve the spacer situation. I couldn’t find the solution at a local hardware store. I have some nylon washers that I could stack, but my afternoon got away from me. I’ll try tomorrow. But, I should have lead with this, I like doing my own assembly. The pain is part of the reward. I wouldn’t have done this any different.
