Hey everyone. I’m pretty close to pulling the trigger and ordering an RTT soon. I recently ordered my LEER topper about a month ago with the rack on top.

I’m trying to decide on an RTT that will work and also not impede the ability to use my soft top in summer.

I daily my Jeep on the HWY and it usually sees speeds between 120-130kph.

I also put a lot of kms on it so something slimmer might be better.
I was really interested in the GFC Superlite except for the fact that current orders will take it into July Production. I need it by May this year. I do really like the Roam tent but it’s just so big and bulky closed that I think it will be too much on a daily driver.
Ok amped is another choice I was thinking about.
Any help on what you are running or opinions. It has to be something that will take no longer than a month to a month and a half to get.
Thanks again.

Good morning!

Congrats on the topper and sharing your excitement!

How many people will be in the tent? Will you be parking in your garage w RTT installed? Desire for solar panel or rack options on top of the RTT?

I don’t pretend to have good advice but I went through this before deciding on mine. :)

I scored a James Barough hard shell last year, and we absolutely love it. I don't have any other personal experience with any others, but my brother in law has a Smittybuilt one, and he loves it.

Hey, so it would be two people in the RTT, currently I park on my driveway as it’s easier, but I’ll be moving later this year and not sure what my parking situation will be but more than likely I’d still have it parked outside which I’m fine with.
As of right now no plans for solar or rack options on top of the RTT. Main reason for ordering the cap was to keep everything I can contained inside the jeep. While fitting inside a garage is not a requirement trying to keep it from being overly tall is something I’d prefer since I don’t want to make it not practical to still be a daily driver.

I've had a tepui ruggedized kukeman for the last 6 years and it's been great. That being said I think this will be my next one: https://tuffstuff4x4.com/collections/roof-top-tents/products/tuff-stuff®-alpha-ii™-hard-top-side-open-tent-black-2-person

I like that it's a hard top side and quick to deploy/pack and still reasonably priced compared to a similar ikamper skycamp 2.0. The ikamper is a nicer set up but I can't see paying double for it
Honestly that’s one of my biggest gripes on the ikamper. It’s the price. But I do understand that you get what you pay for.

My budget is about $5000 CDN for whatever I get. I’d like to try and stay within it or under it. I know I could easily get the Roam, annex and still be under my budget but the size of it closed is my biggest concern.

Keep an eye out for used tents too. Camping gear has been super popular and I'm guessing a lot of people that thought the great outdoors was for them might be trying to recoup some money soon.

@JTRUBI I just purchased my Roofnest Condor (reg size) and I love it! Just took it down to Texas & Big Bend NP (during the storm!) and it was perfect. It's the best size for the bed and I use it over KB Voodoo rails and BAK X4 tonneau. Tent is easy to go up & down and a great size. Also, for driving and all weather, it has been perfect...and just did through ice & snow.

I'm originally from Peterborough, Canada, so I know the weather conditions you're going to be dragging around in and this would be perfect. As a side...I was thinking the Falcon with it's smaller shell, but the 90 inch length was a no-go for me.

Big fan of Roofnest. Hope that helps.

Thanks man, where did you buy it from? I was actually looking at them but I can’t find a supplier in Canada and it looks like they don’t ship here off their website. Any pictures of your set up ?
