Rubicon Shock Replacement Question?

Debating on shocks to replace the factory Rubicon shocks.

Trying to decide is it worth it to move over to the Fox 2.0 or go higher. Most of my driving is on road with the occasional offroad adventure. I feel like the factory shocks don’t do enough to control the ride and looking for recommendations. Has anyone switched to the 2.0s or would I not notice too much difference? Could always get them rebuilt/re-valved if needed.

My Gladiator has the Mopar lifted coils in front and Daystar 3/4 spacers in the back And riding on 35s. I changed the control arms for the Mopar extended ones as well as added an adjustable front trackbar and the Hellwig rear sway bar. For the most part, pretty happy with the ride...just trying to get the last little bit dialed in.

I run a 2"/1" coil lift on my Rubicon and run the Falcon 2.1 monotube shocks and fell it was a decent improvement over the factory shock without going to a remote reservoir setup.

I have Fox Performance 2.0s on my Rubicon. They offer slightly more control than the stock Fox shocks, but not much. Whether you stick with Fox or not, it is important to get the correct length shocks to preserve or increase your suspension travel when using lift springs or spacers.

They have been one of the shocks that I have been looking at. Do you have the SP2 version and if so, which setting do you have them on? Do you feel that they are too harsh at low speed?

I think my biggest complaint is the Rubicon floats too much and doesn’t settle down soon enough.

Thanks for the feedback. That is what I suspected. That is how I felt in the JLUR when I went factory to the 2.0s. While, it was an Improvement, I wish I had gone a little higher end.

On the length...absolutely...need to measure and see where I am at now and order accordingly when I figure out which shock I want to go with.

No, have the original non SP2 shocks. Bought my 2.1 set right before they launched the SP2 series.

Regardless, the stock valving is pretty good in my opinion but that really is subjective. Given the SP2 series has more adjustability, I think you find a right spot to get them dialed in to your taste.

I will say, I originally ran Daystar spacers front and rear on these shocks and found the ride just too stiff. I think the best thing you could do with your setup is trade out the Daystar in the rear for a true coil spring lift.

Eibach. They were the only company I could find that had a 2" front and 1" rear spring setup within the same brand for the Gladiator. I just wanted a very mild level lift and had already bought the Falcon 2.1 shocks.
