Just curious, do you have a running total for how much you have in it so far?

I wasn't happy with the original blackstone setup & the upper level. I decided to change everything up and make my own DIY bedslide + re-make my upper level.

Did the usual 3" aluminum L channel & nutsert mount method.

I need this to be a low profile as possible.

I glued two 3/4" sheets of plywood together. I needed them to be 1.5" thick for the next steps

I used steel C channel and inset it 1/4" into the wood for support. This let me build in some "preload" to the panel to account for sag over the next couple years.

I also welded a 1-5 acme nut to a 4x12 plate and inset that as well. My spare will bolt to this

Also made a box for my jack mount & fluids

Coated with herculiner

the new upper level is 50" wide which gives me just enough room to reach my inner tie downs & I can still reach the trail rail.

It is full length from cap to tailgate

This one is two sheets of 5/8 plywood glued together but I left 3" channels between the laminated sheets so my rails would sit inside.

I wanted the extra room for my fridge freezer that will be going on the top platform.

Quick update:

I am still waiting on some solar controller parts to come in, but in the meantime I did get my fridge mounted on a custom built slide & tilt tray.

I did have to change the opening mechanism hinges over to the short side but overall it's great.

Good job on this build!! I was thinking similiar but just going half slide. Slide half will be tools on the bottom with some storage bins type things up top for camping equipment. Probably use Unistrut to make the platform. Other half will be spare, jack, and maybe Jerry cans. I’m only going for a 38” max though. That 42” has to be crazy in the bed. Can’t imagine that in person.

Thanks

I did make a couple triangle shaped cubbies for tow straps etc, you can kinda see them in one of my pictures. Im trying to keep weight down low for stability.

The 42s are definitely a bit much, but they just look "right" on these trucks.

I am still trying to plan out my spare fuel situation, I dont want jerry cans in the bed, im debating drilling holes & using nutserts on the smart cap for rotopax mounts. I dont want to use seasuckers and have a fuel can come flying off on the highway.

I might just buy the jcr offroad swing out rear bumper solely for fuel mounting but i have a feeling it'll drag offroad
