I have searched and read quite a few exhaust threads but it seems it always goes back to replacing with something else or searching for a sound that simply wont happen...What Im looking at is simply killing the back portion of the exhaust to dump out near the rear axle. I guess its simply cutting off the tip and most rear resonator. I dont want more noise, and certainly dont want to create a drone..I simply want a little more clearance in that area and mainly I dont want to look at the exhaust.

What says the majority on doing this? Is it going to cause more issues than I care to deal with?

i did it when i had a tacoma and had no issues. I dont see that you would cause any issue, nor do I think the back part really will even affect the sound.

I did this with my old Silverado. I had no issues and no drone. Just keep the exit past your cab.

I did it to mine. I didn't notice a change in the exhaust sound. From the driver's seat, I have to really floor it to hear the engine.

I hacked mine off, removed the resonator and put it at the flange just below the driver's seat. It was loud AF, but I didn't mind. Just don't go straight pipe, it sounds terrible...lol.

(Note: this was on my gas gladiator, not my diesel)

How is the result? Did the sound change and are you happy with it?
If someone else did it I wouldn't have known...

Pic? Just picked up new sawzall blades. Getting antsy.
Look at the pics above (kgc)...looks almost identical. I didn't take off the hanger, simply cut behind the small resonator. Just watch what and where you are cutting...Depending on length of blade you need to be careful you dont go into anything else
