@Flyin6 I stopped reading after "Butt-Lines" :) Kidding. I read it and tried to digest as much as possible. For early investigation, I'll rely on my own "Butt-Meter" when out wheeling on side slopes.
Well, if it's working so far, why change it up.

Just wanted to show you the next level in investigating the behavior of this thing. Best of luck!

I'm not going to take offense to any of the comments here... everyone has their own opinions and I know that I'm guilty of not always "preferring" others build choices as well. Just hoping to shed light on the Scout Tuktut for people considering this camper.
Dude, honestly, I think for the price, it's a solid choice. I'm on Alu-Cab because it is slightly lighter and fits my idea build idea better, but I can't help but think if most things were already installed in it and I didn't have to build everything myself, I would go out a bit more. So, not a bad choice either. Enjoy it !

Thanks! Honestly, the AluCab Canopy Camper should have been our logical next progression step. It provides the same off road capability as our previous RTT setup but more comfort. We definitely over-corrected with the Scout in terms of sacrificing "wheeling" vs "comfort". But hey, let's see how it works out, right? :)

I think it’s a sweet option for the gladiator I’ve had a four wheel camper on a Tacoma and a Gfc on my gladiator now i like the idea of hard sided campers for longer trips and being able to stealth camp by just jumping into it quickly

First off, I completely agree with your assessment of weight, water and CoG. Unfortunately I'm guilty of "overloading" my Gladiator even with my old set-up of AluCab RTT and Contour Canopy Topper. It's just my wife and myself so we are not packing in as much as a family of 3+ or even an additional pet. Now with the Scout we'll be even more conscious.

In regard to the quote above... 100% we'll head down the full size diesel route with likely a 3500 Ram if this year's experience with a slide-in camper is something we enjoy. For now we enjoy mid-size truck life
It occurred to me after I wrote that last post that maybe it's a "Jeep Thing (TM)". In which case the heart matters as much as the head when you have the sickness. Also, somewhat selfishly I appreciate your testing for weaknesses. Unless you are a total bone head, which I don't get that impression, I doubt you'll end up like that dude who folded his buddy's frame. But, it would be valuable knowledge to understand the failure points if any, drivability observations and the like. That body of shared knowledge is a great feature of the Jeep community.

In any case, cool setup, I hope it serves you well. Please keep us up to date on your adventures.

Any plans to add heat or a/c?
The Zarges case you see on the back houses a diesel heater. No plans for AC yet given the CO environment.

I've also been looking at the Scout line. I have a similar dilemma of finding the right "trail capability" and comfort compromise that my fiancé would like to join me regularly. Obviously the largest factor would be trail size and height for branches.

I have a 23' F150 Raptor with 37" tires.. it's an amazing vehicle and some comfortable, but limited payload and I'm finding it's rather large for Colorado trails.

I've been looking back at Gladiators, but I don't know if there will be enough room for us, no matter what camper I would put on it. It's me, her (she's small 95lbs), a possible baby/car seat in the near future, and four German Shepherds who currently ride in the bed of the Raptor with a bed mat and an RSI Smart cap. They really like it.

The obvious choice is some sort of soft-sided pop up camper, sleep two (plus possible baby) up top and the dogs below. But once you take into account just the weight of living beings being like 600 lbs, then add in all the supplies and a camper, not sure if it's doab-able.

Ideally I'd like a rig that could do the Rubicon trail, or Black Bear Pass, or Lake Como/Mount Blanca trail (since that's local to me), but I'm just not sure if such a build is possible with my requirements.

The other option would be to keep the Raptor and put a front locker in, and a light Scout or pop-up with some air bags. Or maybe a Power Wagon or AT4X, but I know those also have limited payload.

Another option would be to look into trailers, but it seems like having an off-road trailer with a Gladiator would limit you just as much as a Full-size pickup camper would.

She also thinks I should look into the Cybertruck dual motor, which surprisingly has front and rear locking differentials, 35" tires, 17" ground clearance and 2,500lb payload. Of course range could be an issue, but EV's actually get good range driving slow. It's high speed air resistance driving that kills them.

So I've budgeted around $150K for my build, but don't know what route to take as everything is a compromise.

I'm sure you will love your scout .

I picked mine up friday and believe was the first retail delivery. If you have any questions or want pics , let me know.

Depending on your wheels offset , I don't see 37s going in. I have 17in wheels with offset -18, 35s and it was basically mms of space left between the Jack's.

These Jack's are amazing though. Worth it 100% . They come off so easy. The trip home will be heavier but once it's home, remove the Jack's in seconds and can take the camper off easy after the trip

One of the best thought out designed campers that are with in gladiators center of gravity needs.

Your Jeep looks great and I can't wait to see if more people start purchasing. In regards to the jacks, yes, they are fantastic and super easy to use. I won't leave mine attached and will probably just use them at home most of the time. I noticed in you photos that you have the jacks in the "slim" setting meaning that they are tucked-in to the camper as close as possible. They have a wider stance if you flip out the top bracket leg. Yours are currently folded down. You may already know this but I wanted to call it out :) I leave the rears jacks in this configuration but "extend" the front jacks out to clear my 37's and fenders. It's still close though when loading and unloading. I have 17x9" Methods with 0" offset for reference.

Right now, the Scout is my intended next set up. I'm running a V1 GFC on my JTR now and love it for what it is. As has been said, wives prefer more comfort and I'm hoping for more long range 4 season trips as soon as I retire. Dreams are filled with a Scout on a Bowens Custom bed. Man, the storage possibilities. I've had preliminary talks and don't think anyone has this combo yet. I'm at least a year from ordering a Scout and maybe a year after that for the bed switch, but things are not getting any cheaper. If someone comes out with a light pop top slide in, I might think differently, but I'm set on a slide in so I have the truck bed when not camping. Thx

Bowen customs is just down the street in Denver from me. I do know they have a Gladiator flatbed in the works but it's the only one I think in existence right now. The owner of Juniper Overland has a custom Bowen flatbed with utility boxes on his 3500 Ram with a Scout camper. The fit and finish is phenomenal and the integration of the two creates so many possibilities. If Scout decides to make a true flatbed camper version it would be very roomy inside. Hopefully the parts I have on order for my scout come in shortly so the build can begin. I'll be sure to post pictures here.

Buildout has been kind of slow lately, but I added an Overland Solar 130W ETFT Semi-Flex panel last night. It's secured with 3M VHB tape and I'll also run a bead of Sikaflex around the perimeter. Plan on using a Scanstrut cable seal to run the wires into the camper.

Looks great! I was planning to do the same thing on mine. I just didn't know If I wanted to run it in or connect it to the external plug it came with .
Wish it came from factory like the YOHO

Iv taken this thing everywhere already. Many snow trips and mountain driving Probably 4k miles of driving with it on .. Average 12-13 mpg. Not to bad. This was just a small 3/10 trail.
