hey all,

wondering if anyone has some guidance.

it probably happened at a home depot but just noticed a few deep scratches on top of the fender flare on the passenger side. gladiator is billet silver.

is this repairable by paint or is a new fender required?

i saw at an oem parts site a whole set of 4 fenders is 700 but i would only need one.

anyone have any idea what a body shop would charge to paint it. obviously won't need to leave the jeep there, just the fender.

any comforting words or advice would be welcomed :)

You dont need a new fender. A body shop could fix that pretty quick.

I have watched some touch up videos on YouTube that show how to fix scratches like that. I would try that before a body shop.

That's a nothing burger. Sand the area down, smooth the plastic rip, vinyl sheet off the truck, and have a shot at matching and blending. Worse comes to worse you end up with a body shop fixing it but I think you can tackle this. MOPAR sells the same clear coat and color matching paints.

Do you need a compressor and sprayer or do they sell in a spray can like some manufacturers?

Haha. That would be more obvious than the damage. Someone hit it in a parking lot when my fiancée had it. Her story is suspect, but I got tired of arguing about it.

My wife has a busted front bumper. She doesn’t know what happened according to her. Someone must of hit it in the mall parking lot ? Same woman that ran into a fire hydrant in the snow.

If you are going to try to fix it yourself, I would get the base color from Automotive touch up. Their cans spray much nicer than most (both spray pattern and can pressure).

https://www.automotivetouchup.com/

I would then top coat it with clear using SprayMax 2 part Urethane (2K)which is a two part spray in one can (puncture bladder at bottom). The Spray max cans also spray very nice and are also available from Autobody touch up.

https://www.automotivetouchup.com/spray-paint/spraymax-2k-clearcoat.aspx

NOTE: You have to wear a respirator with the two part cans due to the isocyanates in the hardner.

For an example, I painted this '67 tank (including the stripes) using their base colors (by code) and the SprayMax Clear (photo taken prior to buffing):
