I have a 2020 Sport (7”, non-Alpine) and have been running the following setup since October 2023:
- Fox Acoustics box with 10” Memphis sub under the rear seat
- the box is powered by a 500W RF mono amp, tapped into the soundbar speakers and using a LOC
- stock knee panel speakers
- dash and soundbar using 3.5” Kenwood Excelon speakers with the metra harnesses

up until this week, I’d been extremely happy with the setup. The jeep is a daily driver and I have kids, so I’m not cranking the sub up all the time, but it’s more than enough sound to when I want to.

However, I noticed a scratching/rattling coming from the dash speakers this week, particularly on the bass notes with the volume anything above 10 or 11. Having not heard it before, I played with the equalizer, popped the speakers out and retightened the screws, but nothing made it go away.

i then replaced the kenwoods with a pair of kickers thinking the speakers were just toast, but i still am getting the scratchy/rattling noise. If I hook the speakers up, hold them up to my ear, I can tell the rattle is coming from the speaker itself - not anything loose down in the enclosure.

since it’s happening with both sets of 3.5s though, it seems like it has to be a wiring issue? Any thoughts on what I should replace next??

Well I do enjoy some metal on a regular basis lol, but I listen to a lot of different stuff and never really have the system cranked much past 17 or 18. The Kickers also had the scratching/rattling immediately after plugging them in so I’m wondering if I fried some wiring or something with the head unit

Turns out this is a CarPlay issue. Was on to my third set of speakers (this time infinity reference) and was still getting the rattle even at low volume. The rattling goes away when using Bluetooth or the regular USB connection. Guess I’ll get CarPlay looked at while under warranty
