Hi all. The following happened to my rear bumper, and I can’t place how. I went to a detail shop and they weren’t able to repair/hide it. Other than replacing the bumper, any recommendations on how to cover it up?

Thanks!

Back to black or similar products will make it less obvious. If you go off road you will get used to little scuffs

I have a scuff on the other side. Goes with the territory. It’s a Jeep thing.

Sell the vehicle before the spot grows.

It could look like this...

Mine has scuffs on both sides. I plan on spraying it if I can find the color that matches.

Not the answer you want to hear but my rear plastic bumper was the first thing that was taken off and replaced with a Body Armor 4x4 steel bumper for less the $400 and added the bed sliders and panel protection so it bumped up the price but now if someone rear ends me, they are most likely going to have a worse day than me and I have zero concerns when hitting the trails. I dont understand why Jeep puts useless plastic bumpers that offer little to no protection on Rubicons and Mojaves.

Hi Kyle,

You may be a little like me and that although it may be small and inconsequential, it still bothers you. I had the exact same thing happen to me with my BAKFlip tonneau cover. I had set something on it that put a "small" little divot in the back panel. You absolutely wouldn't notice it unless someone pointed it out to you.

It bothered me, every time I walked by it, and $2K+ later I replaced it with a DiamondBack tonneau cover. Wished I would have gotten that one from the beginning, and I expect that this one (it is built like a brick s***house), will last me for as long as I own the truck (and I keep my vehicles forever).

My recommendation (and it's just that), is to use this as an excuse to upgrade the rear bumper to something a little heavier!

Good luck with your decision and great choice on the color!

Be safe,

Steven

Probably easier to replace pieces than the whole bumper. The Rubicon has a steel bumper frame with plastic pieces, similar to the one in the ops picture

It’s a jeep, get it out on the trails and earn a few more rubs.
It’s also my daily driver and I don’t wheel, so damage doesn’t work for me.
Put a sticker over it.
Thinking about it.

Have ultimate black on there now.

That’s said to most things most people don’t do with other vehicles. Haha

Yikes

Scratch X or Meguires Back to Black will help.

OR,

3rd option. Upgrade it ?

What happened to my original bumper, and what replaced it.

Or just live with it, cheapest option by far.

Not a bad idea.

Haha thanks Steven. Inconsequential to everyone else, major inconvenience to us.

agreed. I had a Rubicon prior and loved that bumper.
It's not paint from someone else, is it?
sadly no. Wish it was.
