About three times a week as I am driving down the road, I get a warning light that says I need to service the 4 wheel drive. It will flicker on and off that entire trip but once I stop and get out of the truck, usually the next time I drive it I don't get the message. I have not used 4 wheel drive in a couple of months. Ideas?

Is that the ONLY light you're getting?

Do you have a way to check for fault codes?

It could be one of many electrical connectors that just isn't connected securely.

Your Jeep's telling you it wants to go wheeling. ;)

^^x2, check for stored codes. My first guess would also be you have a loose connection on one of the sensors underneath the truck which is momentarily flaking out due to airflow or bumps as you drive. A fault code or two would help narrow down which sensor harness to look at.

Theres a tech bulletin for the wire harness with the FAD. Some wires were secured too tightly causing them to kink and break over time, and you'll get intermittent 4x4 lights from them vibrating. Easy fix, my dealer had mine in and out in a few hours.

More times than not, the FAD and the wiring is at play here.

I had a similar problem in my 22 JTR, eventually it started staying on for longer periods of time. Finally took it into dealership and found out there's a handful of sensors that plug into the differentials and could go bad. Had them replace the bad sensor and have not had it happen again.

I just started getting this as well. once last month, and again this morning. I also noticed my 4WD gear indicator the '2WD' is kind of flickering. I fiddled with the shifter and seemed like there's a loose connection in there somewhere.
