Hey guys, I am taking the vehicle back in tomorrow, but am curious if anyone else has had a similar issue.

2023 JT Sport manual with zero options other than the Trac-Lok. The clutch recall was completed the beginning of January.

I had the dealer install the Mopar 2.0 lift on Friday along with 35s on the steel spare wheels. They installed new TPMS sensors on all the wheels. They had a bit of an issue Friday getting 2 of the new sensors to marry to the vehicle. Since I needed the vehicle they said I could pick it up and bring it back next week for them to take a look. Too me it sounded like the techs did not drive it far enough and it would just take a little more driving to get them to marry. As it turns out, on my way home they married with the vehicle.

Here is an outline of the rest of the weekend:

Friday- Again, the TPMS sensors connected on my way home from work. Took the vehicle out that night to go to dinner and did not notice any issues.

Saturday- Began my normal routine as I do every Saturday by running errands, gassing up, and getting a car wash. As I was running those errands something seemed a little off. I thought there might be some sporadic power loss while driving, but figured it was just me needing to get use to the larger tires.

That evening I drove to a baseball game and I did not have any issues on the drive down and again thought maybe there might be a little loss of power, but again, figured it was just me needing to get use to the larger tires. When we arrived at the ballpark and were in line to pay the attendant to park we noticed the vehicle would idle rough when stopped. I also noticed the MPG on the dash did not seem to be correct. I did expect there to be some difference due to the larger tires, but on a highway trip and speeds it was getting like 11 MPG. We parked and went into the game.

Upon leaving the game I started the vehicle and had the following issues:
1. Check Engine Light
2. Service Engine/Start Stop Unavailable message on the dashboard
3. I still was having an issue with rough idle.

I was able to drive the vehicle home.

Sunday- I still had other errands to run today, but I was not comfortable to continue driving the vehicle without knowing what the exact issue was so I drove up the road to AutoZone to have them check for codes. When I started the vehicle up it no longer had the Service Engine/Start Stop Unavailable message, but still had the Check Engine light. AutoZone found the following codes:
1. P0300 -Multiple Cylinder Misfire
2. P0171 -Fuel System Lean (B1 S1)
3. P2096 -Downstream Fuel Trim System 1 Lean

I noticed on the drive home from AutoZone the MPG on the dash was super low, 7MPG while driving very conservatively due to the issues. When flipping through the different dash menus at home I did notice the oil life was at 100%, but it was at 30% before I brought it in for service last week. I found that odd as I did not request an oil change, but maybe they did a courtesy change as I think I had free one on file.

So what do you guys think is going on? At first, I thought all the issues were probably due to a bad aux battery, but now with that message being gone this morning and these "fuel system" error codes I am not sure.

The Service ESS message was probably just from low voltage from it sitting in the shop. Driving it charged the batteries enough to get rid of the message.

TPMS sensors do not 'marry' to the vehicle. If they are the correct sensors, the RF hub automatically detects them and determines what position they are in. There have been some TPMS issues reported with aftermarket wheels.

The rest of the trouble is from the misfire issues. That may take the dealer some time to sort out.

What’s work?
Oh yeah that’s a bi monthly thing on mine sometimes more, since August same faults and same idle conditions. Have to manually shift the auto because it freaks out so bad. Then calms down and by next start up is fine…..ish. Never know when it happens either hot, cold, driving, start up. I refuse to take it out of town, and have since forbidden my wife to take out of town for fear it will leave us or her stranded. Its been to the dealer here 3 times at least. I even attached a note with details of last logged faults, and engine running conditions and I left it there for 6 weeks. Ever since the last episode top end sounds like marbles until it’s warm and idle is still rough, not lopey just rougher than it should be. Went in for that too, again they can’t find anything. Now I’m just waiting for the top end to come apart and then corporate can buy and engine for it. It just did it again yesterday, funny this post pops up. I parked it until I figure out the next move, pretty much over it now. Zero point in owning a pile of shit can’t even drive, got Jeeps from the late 90 for hells sake that run circles around this truck in every category except expect being new. Hopefully your dealer finds out something with, I would love to know.

Right on, the dealership installed the sensors so I assume they would be correct and they're installed on stock steel spare wheels. The vehicle was in the shop for less than a day so maybe aux battery became discharged, but then why did I not get the issue until almost 24hrs and a half dozen drives later?

These tantrums shut down ESS and shows that ESS is off in dash. In between the tantrums never have ESS or any start up issues. Runs and drives completely normal aside from the mild rough idle

If the Dealer installed a 2"lift with 35's how did they reset your speedometer. Everyone is saying the dealer's can't do that anymore. Is your speedometer off ?

Misfire can cause your ESS issues. I know from experience.
Rough idle, misfire - all reasons for it to say start/stop unavailable.
Nothing necessarily due to low voltage.

You have a check engine light - that will trigger stop/start unavailable.
Don't get into distractions. Once the misfire is resolved, bet the ESS issues go away.

The vehicle was in the shop for less than a day so maybe aux battery became discharged, but then why did I not get the issue until almost 24hrs and a half dozen drives later?
Don't get hung up on the constant "low voltage is causing it" thing.
You have a misfire. Fix that first.
Sitting at a dealership won't cause any battery drain or the aux battery to fail or go dead.

One thing at a time.

The Service ESS message was probably just from low voltage from it sitting in the shop. Driving it charged the batteries enough to get rid of the message.
Less than a day? Doubtful.

He didn't have a service ESS message, he has a service engine message - and ESS unavailable.
2. Service engine/Start Stop Unavailable message on the dashboard

Update:

I attempted to drive the Jeep in Monday, but only made it out of the subdivision before the check engine light was flashing and dinging. Drove home and got in contact with the service manager who gave me a link for FCA who sent a tow truck. When I finally got to the dealership the service advisor pulled the same codes as AutoZone (P0300 -Multiple Cylinder Misfire, P0171 -Fuel System Lean (B1 S1), P2096 -Downstream Fuel Trim System 1 Lean)and was confident they would get it back soon. (Again, as of Sunday morning I only had the check engine light as the Service Engine Soon/Start Stop Unavailable had gone away) He reached out later in the day and said I was ready to go! He left by the time I got there, but one of the other service advisors was eager to explain what they found.

The factory installed an extra spark plug tube seal causing the valve cover gasket not to seat properly. This allowed oil to contaminate the O2 sensor and ignition coil. They replaced the seals/gaskets, both 02 sensors, and an ignition coil.

I decided to take the long way home and stop to get dinner. On the drive over there were no lights, but the Jeep still seemed a little down on power. Also, the MPG seemed really off. I was getting less than 5mpg under light acceleration. When I came back out and started the truck the check engine light came back on with the Service Engine Soon/ Start Stop Unavailable. Drove home and left a message for the service manager letting him know I would be back in the morning.

I decided to drive the vehicle down now Tuesday morning so long as the Check Engine Light was not flashing. It did not and again the Service Engine Soon/ Start Stop Unavailable disappeared. When I got to the dealership the service manager greeted me right away. Basically saw me pull up and came running out. He gave me what I found to be one of the most genuine of apologies and told me that my vehicle was being prioritized.

He called me later and stated it was fixed. Again, when I arrived he came right out when he saw me. The first thing he said was that they had a tough conversation with the mechanic who previously worked on the truck as they messed up. I'm not sure if that mean't the mechanic that installed the lift or the kids who installed the tires on Friday or the mechanic that worked on the vehicle Monday. But in either case, they did not flash or reset the computer. If it was Friday, I'm not sure whose responsibility that would have been.

In either case, the truck runs better than it did prior to having the lift installed last Friday. So in the end it seems like it all worked out and again I'm happy with the service manager that handles my vehicle.

My goodness I'm going to start booking my service at that dealership. I think the 3,000 mi commute would be worth it.
