Just had this issue happen to me. Ugh

I'm posting here in case I need to come back to read up on it.

2023 Diesel, only 5,000 miles. Ran fine this morning, and on the way home from work.

Got into the truck after dinner, started up, and had no power steering.

Drove around the neighborhood just to see. Got the "Service Shifter" error. Power steering came back for a few seconds, then dropped out.

It seems like an electric issue since it was an immediate loss, and immediate recovery of power steering.

I need to take the truck in for the P0341 camshaft error (which again seems to be related to chaffing wires and wires experiencing electrical interference.)

This.... sucks.

It's a really simple fix. You just gotta get on the ground and look underneath and just inside the front passenger tire to find the wires. I haven't had it come back in over 3.5 years since I moved the wires out of the way

Some have had a grounding issue. The ground for the power steering pump on the frame has paint on the stud. Removing the ground wire and cleaning the stud has solved the issue with some.

Did anyone check OBD codes when this happened? Just happened to me and I've got a few U0001 Can Bus C Generic error codes (using Veepeak OBD adapter.)

2023 Diesel, only 5,000 miles. Ran fine yesterday morning, and on the way home from work.

Got into the truck after dinner, started up, and had no power steering.

Drove around the neighborhood just to see (could barely turn the wheel!) Got the "Service Shifter" error flashingin the main display.

Power steering came back for a few seconds, then dropped out.

It seems like an electric issue since it was an immediate loss, and immediate recovery of power steering (rather than slow loss of power steering fluid/pump.)

I'm going to look at the wiring harness everyone is mentioning. I couldn't get to it easily from underneath, going to remove the wheel well cover.

I only have 5,000 miles, not sure how the wiring harness could be charged enough to wear through to the actual wires...??

(Or is the problem a bad connection in the harness, aggravated by vibration or heat from the EGR tube?) Am I looking for actual cut/chaffed wires?

Thanks! Ugh.

I don't think the wiring harness is chafed or damaged, I think it's just getting hot enough it messes with the communications protocol.

When my Glad was 1 yr old, I had one episode when all hell went nuts.
lost steering, and the dash lit up like a Christmas tree flashing check this and that faster than I could read it. Fortunately, I was a mile from the house, so I managed to get home. Dealer sent a truck for it, When I started it to back out the driveway it was perfect. The tow driver said he picked up a gasser a few days earlier that did the same thing.
Dealer ran a readout it was 3-pages long of codes, said never saw such a thing. Never did find anything.
that was 3yrs and 50K miles ago and never happened again.
