Do you have to me moving to shift into 4WD? I cannot do it standing still. Thanks for the update
I have tried repeatedly to shift into 4H. I still can't get it to budge. I have tried it while moving,in neutral, in park - everything. I thought I could just pull the shifter down from 2H to 4H. Am I missing something? Is there a trick I haven't discovered? Have mercy - this is my first new Jeep in awhile. I am embarassed asking this!

I got my Gladiator in July. I would shift in and out of 4WH at least once or twice a week while rolling forward. Now it seems to go into four wheel drive pretty easily.

EDIT: This is one of the best videos on how to shift into 4 wheel drive.

Yes, that is the method I use to shift into 4-low; very smooth on the transfer case and shift linkage.

For mine, the first time was quite a pull. Now, rolling under 20mph and it goes in. still somewhat harder then it should be, but im ok with that

Mine takes a heck of a lot to go into 4H. Doesn't seem to matter speed, rolling at about 20 or so, a bit slower, up to 40, still REALLY hard. Today I pulled it back real hard and the light flashed but then went back off- I had to shove it forward into 2H again and really pull HARD in one swift move and it went to 4H. It's among the hardest shifting t-case I've had.
Well, no, I take that back - my F250 was a bear, too! but it felt SMOOTHER - this almost feels like it's rusted up and snagging on things - nothing smooth at all about it. It's not just hard to pull, it's like there's rough spots along the way.

This is what works for me. I backup about ten feet, put it in drive and let it start moving slowly forward. I put in neutral and then shift between 2H and 4H while it is rolling forward at about 2mph.

And if you are on a road and turn and suddenly the road isn't cleared or is deep snow pack - and you can't really come to a stop in traffic?
It would be as bad as my SX4 - having to STOP - each time.
There are times you simply can't stop or go backwards. Today was a good example. I was fine getting out of the neighbor's unplowed drive but on the road I needed 4H in part because these tires suck on snow and snow pack, but it was uneven and the next mile unknown. It was commute time - no way to stop.

Like I said, that's what works for me. It doesn't snow here, so that's not an issue for me. So far, all shifting between 2H and 4H has been in a controlled situation. It should be broke in enough by the time I need it in an adverse situation that it shifts fairly easily under load.

Hmmm....I've only put 500or so miles on my JT so far, but I have not exercised the t-case that much. We're getting a few inches of snow tomorrow morning, and I'm driving it 70miles to work. This might be fun....i'll see how well it goes from 4h to 4l at speed.

Gotcha.
As many times as I have shifted mine - I doubt it's going to get better. It's not just hard, it's a rough shift to 4H.

I believe you need to be stopped to shift between 4H and 4L. Between 2H and 4H can be done while moving.

Yes
and I believe my book says 45 mph. It's got to connect something spinning road speed to something not spinning. (front drive shaft)
