Looking at a 2.5" Evo Stage 4 lift for my '22 JT. Curious about some recommendations for shocks to pair with this kit. Kings are nice but very pricey. Falcon 3.3 adjustable seem nice as well, but once getting to that price may consider Kings. Don't necessarily need this nice or level of shock. Would like to get some feedback and recommendations on options for shocks.

FYI this rig will see majority road time, construction job sites, logging roads, and things of that nature. I've noticed with the stock suspension when on job sites that are still rough or rutted, there seems to be quite a bit of body roll. However, I don't want to make it too stiff.

I'm running BDS valved Fox 2.0s on my EVO 3.5. Seems well behaved on and off road and certainly cheaper than Kings

If you are wanting to stick to a remote reservoir type shock, I think the BILSTEIN B8 5160 series are a decent shock for the price. I would also recommend the monotube Falcon SP2 2.1 series.

Regardless of what you get, finding that Goldilocks space for a shock is a bit tough and subjective.

I’m also running the 2.5 EVO stage 4 plus on my 2020 JTR. I went with the Fox 2.0 3.5“-4.0“ shock and couldn’t be happier for the price. Being 28.5” long on the front keeps you just under the maximum recommended 28 7/8” for the stock drive shaft

I have been talking with Accutune and I am about to order their Fox 2.5 adj with remote res for 2-3 inch lift. I just hope they ride smooth and soft on the highway. If anyone has a bad opinion I would like to hear to.

From what I can tell and have looked at I kind of narrowed it down a little. Here are a few I thought about. How would you rank these options (not price but best down)?
  • Fox 2.0 front/rear. With these would you go reservoir or not?
  • Falcon 2.1. How would you rate these against the Fox 2.0 or King 2.0?
  • Bilstein B8 5160. Any thoughts? These were mentioned above.
  • King 2.0. For monotube how do these stack up against others?
  • King 2.5 in black. I know these are pricey, but I am curious.

AFAIK, the Fox ride the smoothest. Falcon are stiff.

When I did my lift (Clayton 3.5 overland+) I went with the Bilstein 5160’s. I think they are the best from a performance/price standpoint, and way better than the Stock JTR Fox shocks. I found the Fox were way to soft and wanted to stiffen up, if you want a stiffer ride I would recommend them.

accutune. buy the shocks you want and they'll valve em to your specs.

valving is free to when ya buy from them. just go to a scale and get your proper weights, list your mods as accurate as possible. opt for the adventure tune. live happily ever after. just make sure you rebuild ever 30-40k to keep the ride nice.

I'll be going with thier FOX 2.5 elites soon.

its probably a lot like my Mojave. its just beefed up to handle the xtra load. IMO the Mojave has the best ride on or off road. Its stiff enough to feel sporty but no like your driving a brick. It can jolt hard if you hit speed bumps at a middling speed. either go over at 15, or 40+. Highway is great, its a confident ride. any speed over 55 and the suspension can be cycling like hell but it'll feel like a smooth road in any other car. I've never had so many passengers fall asleep so easily in any of my cars as well as this one on long trips. good bolstering, firm but polite ride, heated seat, and the gentle white noise buffet of the soft top in the wind. Got everyone dozing 30 mins in. I have to blare music, top down, or run the AC to cold to keep myself awake. I have a Rubi with a freedom top and she has no dampening what so ever. its like riding a riding a boat but the seasick in 10 mins kind of boat. hoping a shock change will fix that.

You can make it very smooth I’m getting old and love the good ride. I had a Mojave and loved the ride but ordered a 392 Wrangler so traded it in then I didn’t like all that money tied up in the 392 sold it and found a great deal on the Rubicon Gladiator and made it ride like a Mojave lol
