My Guardian lapses next month. I’m not giving them $250. Remote start with the fob still will work. I’ve used the remote start from my watch/phone maybe 10 times. It’s been about 50% reliable. Never had to use remote lock (OCD saves you money) I already let the radio lapse because I hate radio. You’ll still get traffic for another couple of years. I don’t need the Guardian theft protection either. I’m a nihilist, so I keep a wild marmot in my truck that will attack would-be thieves and pot heads.

You can call them and get 6 months for $60, but apparently only once per vehicle.
With the radio service I've told them I want to cancel and they suddenly have some really good promos. Didn't happen with guardian so I'm cancelling mine.

$120/year is normal if you ask for it.

That‘s for all their garbage (minus radio). Things like SOS calling and push button assistance.

The app door/start functions alone are only like $13 a month.

Seriously? Jeep will come to a full stop if needed.

My son never pays full price for subscription things. It once in a while means he's without his music and sports channels for a couple of days, but he's been paying 5 bucks a month for years.
Me, too. Since 2008, $25-$30 for a 5-6 month trial subscription (term and cost depends on what introductory offer they're running at the time).

Just a side road here, a slight diversion - I see you are one of those like the two guys who responded the time I got my hand tangled in the table saw blade. Mega-thanks.

mine expires here in a few days.... I called to try to work a deal. There are no deals really for the Guardian service. The vehicle tracking would be nice. But the only time I ever needed it, I was hiking way out and got off the trail. I knew the jeep was within 500 yards or so of me but from my position I couldn't tell which way. I tried using the service, but it requires cell connection, which there was none (for my phone, or the jeep) :) I found my way back the good old way... with my feet.... (ended up climbing up a hill and looking down in the valley to find it.

There are - if you let it expire. They hounded me with cards and emails.
Then they did the same with my wife's Jeep. Neither of us are paying full price.
You generally won't get any deals unless you show you are serious about letting it go - by letting it expire.

Agreed. Really not worth it. If my jeep is stolen, I'll just call them and activate service and tell them it's stolen.... then they can geo locate.

Mine expired in April. I probably get an average of slightly more than 1 call a day from SiriusXM. This includes spoofing my area code and the exchange number of my cell phone, which is extremely shady. A lot of these calls are contractors and not even SiriusXM so even if I was interested, it’s hard to tell if they’re legit. I get texts too. I get at least one piece of mail per week. I get several emails a week (which end up in the spam folder) and now my Uconnect has started giving me a message that my services have expired that I have to acknowledge when I start the truck.

The “services have expired” wording is intentionally vague as to indicate something more than just the over the air services have ended. The fob-based remote start still works, but the language says “remote start will no longer work.” Other services still exist.

I’ve had new cars before and gone through the games with SiriusXM but never close to this intensity. It’s a little disturbing.

I don’t use satellite radio. With internet radio and streaming I don’t see the point and I loath talk radio. People like me are probably part of the reason for this aggressive marketing because their profits, despite a government-blessed monopoly, are in decline.

Also of note, and I don’t know how often others here actually used the connected services but I tried to a lot in the beginning. Starting your vehicle or unlocking it with your watch or Siri or Alexa is a cool truck. Unfortunately, in my experience, the remote start, the remote lock and the remote status was probably less than 50% reliable at best or it was so slow, it was pointless. I just stopped using it and I really don’t miss it. I wouldn’t think about it except for the hounding. The anti theft aspect really doesn’t motivate me either. If someone wants to steal a big red Jeep with an awning on it, be my guest. I have my own trackers in the vehicle anyway. My watch will call emergency services if it detects sudden violent deceleration. As long as I can start my truck to warm or cool the interior with the fob I’m good.

If people want to contribute to yet another rent-seeking enterprise, a flex plan for a gps communicator or flex plan for mobile starlink or Gaia GPS or OnX or a better cellular hotspot plan, Apple Music or Spotify are all better investments. If you want to spend money to add some cool tech features to your Jeep, buy a wireless CarPlay fob and charging pad or a Tazer.

I let it go. I only used it on a rare occasion and haven’t missed it since it’s been gone. I would pay maybe $2/mth for the service but no more. And I hate Sirius customer service which is why I also let my xm radio expire.

I do hate that my head unit now regularly pops up notices advising me to resubscribe. Any way to stop those?

People Work?
I come from several years of using Android Auto (music, navigation, messaging, phone calls) exclusively, so this stuff is really worth nothing to me.

Guardian service has nothing to do with any of that.

There are lots of people confusing the SiriusXM Radio and Guardian services. Yes, you can get the radio service for $5/month, works out to about $70/year. Although the last time I asked for this price they said it wasn't available so stopped the service. A few weeks later they sent me mail with the $5/month offer.

Guardian is a completely different service.
