Question for folks who drive trucks as a DD. How do you manage carrying groceries when inside the cab is not an option. I did some googling and lots of folks recommended milk crates and ratchet straps...yeah, but personally, I’m not feeling that on the back of a $60k truck. thanks in advance for your recommendations.

Edit: Not sure if this info is relevant, but I plan on purchasing the factory cover for the bed.

On my ranger I had a toolbox I would use, but since I will have a back seat I don’t think the box is necessary.

My Tundra is my DD. I carry groceries in it just like you would on any other vehicle, inside the cab mostly. On the few occasions when I do want to put them in the bed, I just tie up the bags so stuf isn’t falling out and rolling all over the place. Give me a traditional fold down tailgate any day. I have no use for a swinging gate.

If trucks had come with swinging gates to begin with, then all of a sudden someone invented the fold down gate, we would all be talking about how slick it was and asking why no one had thought to do it till now... just food for thought.

that's why the ridgeline is the best of both worlds. Well maybe this ram 60/40 is best, dunno.

IF IF IF I could get 100% what I wanted....

60/40 split like the Dodge WITH the under bed storage like the Honda.. Best of both worlds.
Hmmm, well you could buy the "RubiGlad" remove the Bed - go to Honda and order a replacement Bed for that truck and hire a FAB. shop to make it FIT ! Heck, it's only money . . . can't take it with ya when you die ! ? Might as well spend it how you see . . . "FIT" ! :like: . . . damn, come to think of it that IS a good idea ! ? Best of both worlds !

In all practicality I don't think I would ever really use it other then like a normal tail gate. I would not spend the extra money.

I’ll tell you my story.....

When I bought my last F-350 a friend warned me to be sure to keep the tailgate locked as people were stealing them...He then told me he heard someone in the middle of the night trying to get his tailgate off and went out with his Sig to see. They ran off when they saw him...

Anyway I live in the country and thought there is no way someone would do that to me....A few months later I took the truck to the local Ford dealer for some minor issues and when I went to pick it up realized that the tailgate was missing! The fu#$%ing dealer would not stand behind the theft and gave me a price of almost $4000 to replace it. Evidently you have to buy each piece separately and assemble it. I won’t bore you with the rest of the de tails but suffice to say that I always keep my tailgate locked now!

Pretty sure my insurance company wouldn’t have stood for that kind of BS - that dealer would have had a lawsuit from them on their doorstep so fast they wouldn’t have had time to take a breath.

My guess is shortly afterwards, the dealer would ‘find’ the tailgate, it having been removed by mistake by a poor, misinformed, new employee, who just got confused about which tailgate he was supposed to be servicing.

crap like this is why vehicles are so expensive these days. If it was just an option that would be great. It's when you want one option but you have to buy another overpriced option to get it that's when the price gets inflated.

And also harder to repair. Everything's connected.
