This doesn’t work.

Outside of heated lenses some folks are just going to have issues.

It isn’t really “all” snow that is an issue…. Dry heavy snow doesn’t really build up. It’s wet heavy snow that really is the problem.

Someone in either this thread or another that Baja Designs SAE fogs stay warm/hot enough that snow does not stick. ??‍♂ might be a good enough excuse/option to at least continue travel or get to a place to pull over and clear the headlights.

there's a bunch of threads on this covering pages and pages - there's really nothing that can be done with STOCK LEDs.
They are big funnels, they are recessed, and they don't get hot.
There's no solution to date other than getting rid of the factory LEDs, but then I've had other headlights get iced over and snow packed as well......... just that these are recessed snow catchers.
I've had to stop and scrape off heavy ice accumulations from my WJ and other vehicles in the past.

"more light" isn't the solution for fog lights - those are for nearby - right up close to the vehicle and off to the sides. Go swapping to "brighter, farther" lights and they are no longer fog lights.
A good quality selective yellow fog light like DiodeDynamics offers gives good light, good color and better coverage. But brighter is just going to make people coming the other way road rage.
If it was legal I'd shoot out a few of those "fog lights" as they approach.
diode, Baja and other light companies make yellow sae legal fogs that are very bright

Yeah, that's one thing - bright - but those are really fog lights and limited range.
(I have DiodeDynamics selective yellow fogs myself)
Too many put in questionable lights because they believe fog lights should show out several yards ahead of the vehicle and that's just not true. In fact, that type makes things worse in real fog, not better.

I'd venture to say that Jeep people abuse or incorrectly use fog lights or believe they are what they are not.

If they are so useless why did you buy expensive fog lamps?

Fog lamps automatically turn off when your brights are on unless you wired yours differently. Anyone running brights in the snow will quickly learn that it is blinding and reduces visibility. Additionally, most people driving in extreme snow conditions where visibility is limited are not driving at highway speeds or anywhere near there. High quality fogs are useful when used in the proper application

@Teqsand Baja Designs is released an LP6 SAE at Sema. Ideally it would fit in the oem location but you'd have to reach out to BD to find out.

I never said they were useless - just that they are misunderstood and misused.
I use them exactly for the function for which they were intended, slow speeds, watching road markings and the side of the roads on hilly, curvy roads where you need to pay close attention.

And yet look at the number of forum members who use tazer to make sure they can run their fog lights with high beams. It's a common question here - "how can I make my fog lights not turn off with high beam". They don't get it.

I wish it was true............ if we ever get any sort of bad storm, I'll setup my phone holder and get video of people zipping by when they can't possibly see 20 feet ahead of themselves.

Yes, QUALITY fog lights are useful when used in the proper application. You use the key words there - quality and proper.

And then there's the other 80% of people. Run them all the time, run them with high beams, etc.
I live where it's hilly, the roads are winding and the trees and brush grow up right to the shoulder of the road - along the Des Moines River area.

Pam and RainX don't matter, don't help. Quite often we have rain, then turns to freezing rain, and then turns to wet snow, then the temp drops.
You get that layer that snow sticks to and nothing can help except to have very hot headlights - even then, the rate of melting will be reduced by the fact that the passing air is taking the heat off the light almost as fast as it's generated. It's like a fan blowing air through a radiator.
That funnel or bucket area ahead of the headlight collects cold ice and snow and the passing air keeps that area cooled off. So the heating has to happen fairly quickly - a high BTU situation.

Okay, all very valid points. I misunderstood you originally.

It is interesting people will take the time to research how to get their fogs to work with the high beams engaged and what fogs are the best but they have no idea what applications to use them in.

I see people running their amber fogs in all scenarios. Raptor owners do it more than anyone else in my area.

I don't always articulate my real thoughts very well, and often get them lost in other stuff.

I put clear packing tape over the headlight bucket. Worked great. When the snow was gone pulled it off. I like those clear covers though.
