I use Maxima SC1 High Gloss Coating spray . https://www.ebay.com/itm/175945329357?_skw=maxima+high+gloss+coating+spray&itmmeta=01JPMP4K7TFB6GV4GHZ9J62C2Y&hash=item28f728aacd:g:0oQAAOSw5jRlIDoG&itmprp=enc:AQAKAAABAFkggFvd1GGDu0w3yXCmi1fPsug4oAgbIxxl7XnVzUbOwaCjviuVHbS3IVaAWzBv6tZR4o+D8tviWtutN/TxKooRcg+K9nANUrXjrEfhw7xduaVg/tbFdY7XxfPKjKqU8hqG3EDSpZKpiJphHAinGG9DLAAeW43icUZ/DasD+Kqq3vnKXKKD4O+VaS6h85dgQzI5xcCZr0HCmnHmFbr8ervk2bhbCNyQ7F6CV+GohwbQ+kMS9Z/IXh3CMjwAfoRWXqONlIcRKBhlOzJN146TI2E0gEVAGkzOomLPJpHUeeNVw/mny1EzMpkWVN/1FjDyo8vRFIFNRitcOpTKinXSyXY=|tkp:Bk9SR4a0kpa1ZQ

It comes out as a very fine mist and shines up inside the fender wells with-out any wipe down with zero runs . Great also to shine up your plastic on 4 wheelers and dirt bikes .
Just a bit of caution do Not use this on your running boards or floor mats it will make it like you are on ICE and is very hard to scrub away " Do not ask me how I know " LOL. , And be very cautious on a street bike with its very fine spray if it even gets a little bit on the tires you could be headed with your tires up and not on the ground ! Also caution on applying when on smooth garage floors . It does have a pleasant scent but could be a bit overpowering if after spraying you tuck her to bed in a closed garage .

It’s just a dressing, doesn’t last long. One rain….. gone
I put lanolin on back in early November and it's still there. It's more of a wax than an oil. You can get it off with a pressure washer and soap if you need to, but the whole point is that it starts to fill in all those little spots moisture and salt set in.

So will barebones bring the black fender trim and other black plastic parts back to life? Meaning make them a nice dark clean black again?

I see some of you coated those parts with ceramic when it was new and that has helped to keep it new looking?? I didn't do that and now I'm paying the price.

I'm sure others would have something to say, but I use "Tire Shine" spray on the tires, interior fender wells (also, any exposes metal) as well as the black plastic trim after a wash (Note: applied on trim with a dish sink spong to keep it off the paint.). On the exposed rubber, "303" protective spray (again, using a spong). Easy to apply and cheap. 2020 Overland, still looks good, almost new.

We use Barebones but we don't spray it on, we spray it on a sponge and wipe everything black on thr undercarriage with it. It takes a little while, but it looks great and doesn't attract dust. Surprisingly it last for a pretty good while.

Ceramic coatings aren’t a cure all either. There are soooo many different types (and companies that make it) of ceramic coatings out there. Quick sprays that only last 6 months to full coatings that last 8-10 years. Each type requires a different process to apply it. The ones that last the least - are easier & quicker to put on. The ones that last the longest, are the hardest (and more labor intensive) to put on. If you do it yourself, be prepared to do touch ups…..

We applied ceramic (2-3 year coating) on my mother-in-laws 20 year old Ford Escape. Her plastics were grey….. and the ceramic coating made them black again. It was pretty impressive. How long does it keep them black? I have no idea… We sold it soon after that.

I bought some of this and gave it a shot over the weekend. Granted I only have 2200 miles on mine at the moment so its not working too hard to make an improvement. I can tell the difference though and it looks nice. I will be most interested in how long the shine lasts after a week or two and in rain.

Also its pretty easy to get over zealous, the first wheel well I did ended up running down the outside of my muflap and I had a fair bit of mop up to do. Even after spraying less in the other wheel wells and waiting 15 minutes it still seems best to wipe down with an old rag to eliminate streaking ( i was kind of hoping to not have to do that)

overall for $11 a bottle a really nice product

Does anyone remember Armorall and all the dashes it cracked? I us 303 as it is not oil based. Doesn't last long. I use it on everything. Tires, leather seats, everything. I think it makes the mud easier to get off.

That is a new one on me. Never heard of it.

If the examples were 1990's to 2000's GM, Ford and Chrysler dashes, those were inevitable no matter what was used.

I remember it, but it never cracked any dashes. It was all the rage and have yet to see it do any damage. The thing was that once you started using it on black outside trim, you needed to keep up with it.
We all used it on door panels, dash pads, seats and more. No problems. Still use it on door gaskets/weatherstripping to avoid them freezing to the door frame.

Right - and of us who restore/collect the classics know of that, but it wasn't the treatment. It was the vinyl drying out and shrinking.
