I just got an update last night. Any idea what improved? I don't see any difference.
And I still have no options other than the blue arrow icon on the nav map.
2020 Overland, 8" screen.

I saw "Installing IFADA" on the lower left of my screen this morning. The text went away while using the radio and normal. Googling shows many asking "what does it mean", with no clear answer other than it MIGHT be some sort of android update. I havent seen any change yet, but I assume it will go through an obvious update at some point soon.

I also have the Premium JBL system with 8" screen and installed the update. No noticeable changes. Though I have been getting a number of communication about purchasing the map update for $199. No Thanks, I use Carplay and my apple maps.
It would be great if the update corrected the issue of the AT&T wifi losing connection regularly, requiring me to remove fuse # F97 (Radio/TBM) to initiate reboot and restore connection.

2020 Overland.

Was it an OTA or Dealer Installed update? How long did it take? Did it provide any details about the update, or any information that could be used to lookup what it was for?

The only OTA update, that I am aware of so far, was part of a recall to fix issues with the backup camera on some 2020 models. After it was downloaded, it popped up a notice on the screen and then took about twenty minutes to install.

2021 willys, showed the same Installing IFADA when I started my truck. It quickly went away and that was it. Don't see anything new within the infotainment.

OTA update. I had the same on my 2021 willys.

Those are common and not infrequent. I've seen it at least 3 times on my 2022 bought last July.
There are many dozens of people all over the FCA spectrum wondering what it is - it's apparently more of an internal communication thing, not for anything you will see or notice.
You likely won't see any change. I sure haven't, and neither have the RAM and other owners who have asked about it.

Do you need to have the WiFi activated to receive OTA updates?

OTA updates are delivered through the head units cellular connection. Large updates are rare. The only one I'm aware of was part of a recall to fix issues with the backup camera.

I had my phone connected (CarPlay) when I arrived at work this morning, there was an update but I couldn't get a pic of it. I left my phone connected and went to work, it said it was going to take 45 minutes for step one. When I came back a few hours later it was complete, wish I could recall what it said but didn't appear to be anything important that I remember.

Why did you leave your phone connected? That's got nothing to do with the UCONNECT updates/radio updates.
No, as said here or elsewhere, such updates aren't for things you will notice.
You could have simply disconnected your phone, taken it with you and go to work.

Why did you leave your phone connected?
Mostly because I couldn't find the information quickly, so figured better safe then sorry. Leaving it plugged in sure didn't hurt and I didn't want to risk it being one of those updates that totally goes of the deep end if you interrupt things. But thanks for the info, good to know for next time.

When did they come out with a JBL system? Is it something you put in aftermarket? Jeep has had Alpine for Years...???...
