You click recording and you send can email that directly to the police if you like, I did it before when I had a problem with a contractor...honestly it’s plug and play, no need to over think these things these days.

Last night I enabled the hood ajar switch into the alarm system so now whenever the hood is opened with the truck armed it sounds the alarm. Worked pretty nice and its just a little extra added security with the non locking hoods on the JT.

I used to pull the rotor from inside the dizzy in my bug. Granted you could just push the thing.
Can't you track the Jeep on the my Jeep app or something like that?

I was opening up my house at 5:30 this morning and caught someone scoping out my Glad. He was driving a raised older Cherokee with loud ratty exhaust. The fool made a u-turn next door and stopped to take a better look before he saw me on my porch watching him. He drove off only to stop a half block away and sat blacked out for several minutes before driving off blacked out. I'm retired LE and was standing there with Atticus (see photo) so this could have gone bad for him on several levels. Question is, is there a better way other than what came on the Glad to secure it. In California all Jeeps, especially the Gladiators are regularly targeted for theft.

1st-Thanks for your service!
I would consider an ignition kill switch, they may have something remote now, i know there used to be manual disconnects, but that might get old if you use it often.

exterior motion lights, noise / motion alarm may work too. If you are parking on the street all of this is more difficult.

Cameras are good to give info on your stolen truck, which is better than nothing but doesn't stop anything, imo

Sounds like that person was just admiring your Gladiator - they are not yet common. I've lived in the middle of Washington, D.C., for 30 years, park on the street 24/7 and don't worry about my vehicle being stolen and none have been. Have had some convertible tops slashed.... Highly recommend cameras inside and outside your house (or looking out from a window sill) with a service like Nest (formerly "Dropcam") so you get alerts on movement and can watch on your phone. For about $15 a month I have three cameras monitored and recorded at all times. Very comforting when I'm out of town. Nest is super easy, plug it in and it detects your wi-fi. Viola!

As for a security system in the Gladiator, I'd consider a kill switch. As others have mentioned, I think modern vehicles are pretty difficult to steal. Am more concerned with carjacking so I am in the habit of locking doors the second I'm behind the wheel and I keep bear spray handy. But carjackers are usually armed.....

Here in South Minneapolis, the epicenter of social unrest this year, we’ve got nightly batches of the car door snoops caught on cameras across the city. I’ve got 3 ring cameras so I pay attention to security on a daily basis. No real attempt to steal my Gladiator last summer from my driveway, but I did record a couple of said snoops trying my door handles and peering inside. Wife thinks I’m crazy but my hope is to chase down one of those fools the next time it happens.

Thanks for your service. Also, handsome dog there. I confess prior ignorance about the existence of a Giant Schnauzer breed before Googling, but they sound like mighty fine pups.

I would like to add the current Owlcam to the list of devices which record to the cloud without the need for WiFi. It records both in and out of the vehicle and alerts of any movement, similar to a Ring doorbell cam.

And to the OP, thank you for your service sir.

Never heard of a giant schnauzer before - that’s an awesome dog!

Can’t contribute anything else to this thewsf that hasn’t been said so just build a moat around your property.

When I'm home, my JT is 95% of the time , in my garage. I also have security cameras that covers all of my property, along with a security system. If the alarm goes off while I'm away, I just pull up my cameras, 8 of them, on my cell phone. I'm also a retired LEO with 36 years of service, so I have let my best buddy, Kaiser protect my Jeeps when I'm out and about. I have gone through two Wranglers and Kaiser took ownership on each of them. If anyone approached him, while in the Jeep, he would kind of give them "The Grin". Picture of him grinning in my first Jeep, 2008 black JKU. They were his Jeeps, he just let me drive them! The JT is new to him, but he wants to go whenever I get in it. If I go out without him, I have a friend that goes with me and I never leave home without him. How I love a good 1911!
