I did the mb quarts 6x9 cut out upgrade. They are loud, but no bass response. It may have been something i did, but Im going to put bass blockers on them eventually and then amplify them as well as the JBL's in my dash. Im pretty sure my drivers front speaker is blown, if i can get labor under warranty, i may try and slide the tech a fifty and have him install some aftermarkets for me.

Sometimes they sound like a paper bag hitting (im overdriving them at 75% volume and I know this jbl dash speakers and the mb quartz make this sound). Im upgrading slowly and just havent gotten there yet.

I have the 7" stock head unit too.

The Kickers came in today but I have to wait till Tuesday for the Metra adapters to come in so I can make the change in the sound bar. I think since I am changing those I will change out the Upper Dash speakers as well just don't know what I will replace them with. Nothing crazy expensive but anything has to be better than the stock

From my experience, dedicated tweeters work best in the upper dash.

The factory upper dash speakers are just tweeters. If you replace them with a full-range speaker (I used some JBLs,) you’ll get more presence, a fuller sound. The 4” knee speakers are barely adequate as woofers, and don’t do much otherwise.

I have found that when paired with good tweeters, the combination of tweeters with the 4" knee speakers produces a wider range of sound, but aren't as loud as 3.5" in the upper dash.

You started out wanting just a cheap replacement for a factory speaker, it seems like your goal has changed. Take it from someone who has gone through several iterations of speaker combinations, if you care that much about the quality of the sound, you will not be happy until you get larger speakers in the sound bar that can produce some bass.

Instead of paying $150 for the Quadratec tweeters, you would be better off buying these adapters https://www.crutchfield.com/p_66328JLJTE/Select-Increments-JLJT-Pods.html and putting good 6.5" speakers in them. I like these better https://www.crutchfield.com/p_327JTSA065/SSV-Works-JJT-SA065.html?tp=110 , but they require cutting.

I would wait and see how the 3.5" that you already bought for the sound bar work for you, and if you're still not happy, save up to put 6.5" in the sound bar and move the 3.5 to the upper dash.

No hasn't changed I am going to put the kickers in the sound bar and was just thinking maybe there would be some benefit to replacing the factory speakers in the upper front dash but that is for another time. I was just looking around at what might be some decent replacements. I happened to see the quadratic ones'.

Spot on brother. I bought the JLJT pods and they worked great with some Polk 6.5s. I was not into cutting.
