Okay, Overland, ordered 5/19, delivered 7/19. 8.4" system with Navigation, and the Alpine sound system. Just under 50K miles on my Overland.

So, today, coming back from an errand, listening to XM all happy and, really liking the tunes (Classic Vinyl), when all of a sudden, the volume increases by like 50% and the sound gets all crackly and static like, like very poor FM reception. Turned down the volume and it's still very crackly. Tried turning the system off then back on again with no change. Made a couple of stops and when the vehicle was restarted, still no change.

I'm guessing either the amp went kaflooey or the system went kaflooey. Tried AM and FM with the same result so it ain't XM.

ANYONE have a clue as to what this is so that when I go to the stealership with this issue I can tell them what it is and save some time and money (diagnostic fees) to get it fixed or does my head unit need replacing?

I'm sure this'll get moved to another forum but at least starting it here it'll get more attention at the outset.

So, PLEASE chime in with any thoughts, suggestions, ideas so I can go to the stealership armed with good info.

Thanks much youse guys :) :) :)

Try this reset procedure described here by others with a similar issue: https://www.jeepgladiatorforum.com/...-reception-fixed.59017/?utm_source=perplexity
  1. Start the vehicle up.
  2. Turn on the radio.
  3. Push and hold both the Volume and Tuner buttons simultaneously for about 15-20 seconds.
  4. Then release the buttons and wait a minute for the system to restart
Alternatively, there's been a bit of talk over at the JL forum about this too: https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/sound-system-blast-static.19319/
