I am on the same path. I have the 8.4 Alpine system but would like to find a direct factory subwoofer replacement that is plug and play that will fit in the stock location and can be sufficiently driven by the factory amp. It would be nice to have a bit more low-end punch. I have looked everywhere with no luck.
Who makes that encloser ?Kicker HS10 fits behind the drivers side rear seat. I wasn’t impressed with the HS10, didn’t provide anything over the factory sub. Feed 500W to a 10” Kicker L7T and it pounds. Fits nicely under the passenger rear seat.
The 7” head unit and speakers in the base system are pure garbage. There is nothing worth saving in the base system in my opinion. The 8.4 head unit is better, but even the alpine speakers included with the option are only a marginal upgrade.
Did you end up finding anything?
Unfortunately, no. Nothing out there that is direct plug and play that I could find. A few weeks ago, I moved on to a WL74 due to wife's health and physical issues getting in and out. It was a tough pill to swallow I must say. You never know what life will throw at you.
This. I only upgraded the front dash with fairly cheap inifinity reference speakers and boy that added a lot of missing detail. I have the Alpine tho so maybe the amp it comes with Works well with those.
