2021 Willys Sport - Okay so my spare was loose, after lift. No worries get the tools out and snug it up right? WRONG!!! Yes I read the manual and no the jack handle extensions would not engage at all. Did the right angle, got it in the plastic guide etc. In the end I used a long 3/8 drive extension and socket and got it down. What's up? Am I missing something? I tried to use the big end of the handle extension, no good, tried the small square end, no good? I even grinded the smaller square end to fit like I got the extension to work but even that was no good??

I 'should' be able to use the tools that came with the truck. I shouldn't have to buy a second long extension and carry a socket wrench too right? I'm looking for anyone that can help? Maybe someone knows a trick? Am I missing a part in my tool kit? Anyone else have this problem and resolved it? (And no I don't want to put the spare in the bed, I use the bed of the truck alot!)

Are you sure you got the tool in the guide the first time and got it to the bolt head? First time I tried to lower the spare I realized I got it through the plastic hole on but had it angle so that it missed that metal tube that guides it. Seems so odd the 2nd try with another tool did the trick. Other that that I dunno.

Your missing the guide for sure
I don't think so? Its weird? The 3/8 extension fit just fine? If its a bolt head inside why does the extension fit inside? If it were a Bolt head inside the tool that came with the truck should work but doesn't? On the jack handle extensions I have there is a dimple on one of the four sides so its not completely square hence my problem. I'm lost on this issue for sure!!

While the spare was down did you try using the stock tools to see what fit and didn’t? Or did you say “f it” and just use the thing that worked?

Yes I did try the trucks kit to no avail. Had to use socket wrench with extension to get it back up…this sucks!

The open “large” end should fit onto a square head at the end of the guide. If you were to put just one extension in it should stop where there’s just barely enough room for the lug wrench/handle to make a rotation.

Yeah I know it’s just not working! I’m going to the dealership and ask them to ‘show’ me how it’s done with the supplied tools. I’ll bet they can’t do it either. Then they can tell me what’s up. I’m convinced I’m missing a ‘piece’ but not for sure and I know I don’t have a spare lock key!

I’ve never seen one missing a part, but that definitely doesn’t mean it hasn’t happened! Good luck with the dealership!

I just lowered mine when replacing my exhaust and I just inserted one of the Hex rods that's part of the factory jack equipment and it worked fine .

Don’t suppose you could send a picture of what it looks like?

I have a 21 Willys Sport and being a Jeep guy and not a truck guy, I will say it did take a bit to sort it out but the appropriate tools were present. My question is; why would the spare have became loose from installing a lift?

4x4 shop that the lift didn’t snug it up! Update tho! 4x4 shop used a socket and extension. Guess what!? They left the socket in the hole!! Got stuck! Dealership sorted it out and now the supplied tools work as they should! Problem solved!!!
