Picked up a beautiful set of Spicer diff covers for my 2023 Majove. They came with bolts. Looking at a few youtube videos most people recomend to NOT use the supplied bolts. Touque specs are 25-30 ft lbs. The supplied bolts are snapping off well before 25 ft lbs.
Some recommend using the stock bolts but two problems with this:
The Spicer nodular iron covers are thicker than the stock stamped steal covers by quite a bit so the stock bolts may be too short for proper thread engagement.
The stock bolts are not supposed to be reused (torque to yield?).
So, any recommendations? I may try ARP and see if they have anything the size of the Spicer supplied bolts.
Thank you for your time,

Personally- I’d stick a original bolt through measure, take the new bolt-stick it through measure, figure out the difference in length and order some grade 8’s that have the correct pitch and length…. Call it good.
Kimball Midwest online has a good inventory.

They’re diff cover bolts, just don’t torque em and use what Spicer supplied.

They just need to be snug. I know that’s a very vague term and varies from person to person but yeah. You’re just tightening them down enough to compress the gasket (or RTV).

I got a set of used ones from a member here, no bolts included, had them
sand blasted and sprayed with “steel it” paint, reused the factory bolts, even added a thin stainless washer under the factory bolts. Playing with it and checking it had at least five threads on the bolt engaged , has held up good…..Jack

Do you have an ACE Hardware? They have a great assortment of fasteners in stock.
