Be a Drama Lama all you want, but you are in no position to be steering how the dealership wants to handle this. Become too much demanding, they will park your vehicle to the side and tell you to get it off their lot.

What they are asking you to do is not unreasonable.

I think he was being rhetorical .... sounds like he needs to take a breath and think this through.
I think he didn't like being called out...

My dealer unhooked my winch power cables to replace the failed main battery. Shortly after replacing said battery, they reinstalled aftermarket zip-ties in the same location I had them for wire management. My humble opinion is you should find another dealer.

They all vary - even to the tech you get at a particular dealership. Even a dealership that normally treats you fairly and does very good work will see a stinker assigned to your vehicle now and then.
But establish a sort of relationship with the service advisors, wish them a good day, ask how things are going, and in the case of our JLU, I even told them I expected there was a process they had to follow in order to get things covered by warranty and I expected that this time would be an interim step even if they weren't sure it would fix it. (he looked sort of surprised that I was expecting how things would need to go)
I wasn't a fan of their shock testing but then for warranty shock replacement I didn't expect their top earner and top performer to be on that task. No biggy, I have a plan anyway.

I found tipping the service advisor and tech(s) that work on my vehicles helps improve accuracy of repairs and often negates the need for future visits for the same issue.

Most dealerships won't touch an aftermarket item, even if another dealer installed it, on a warranty job.
There is no money to be made and a ton of liability.

Now if you're in there on your dime, they'll dismantle the entire vehicle.

But, if you get a good mechanic/tech and he knows it's 30 seconds to take this off to get to the job, then yes they'll do it and not log it into the system.

Two nuts, unhook the power leads and move forward.

Couple dozen donuts from Dunkin as a offering works wonders also.

Exactly. Take a 10mm and be done with it.

In my case, I guess a 12mm wrench for the negative and a 10mm wrench for the positive.

For anyone without a winch wondering what all of the fuss is about - the red cable and the black cable (ok, I have two black cables but they are still held on with one nut)
