Check out Progressive. I just switched from USAA to them.
Oooo, you won't like the claim process or how Progressive repairs things. There is NO comparison to those two providers. State Farm and USAA are on a totally different level than Progressive.

I work in the insurance industry. I am not defending your carrier or their decision, but would like to offer some perspective. Insurance costs for better or worse, are not about "you" or whether "you" have had a claim. The premiums are based on the law of large numbers. They are based on the cost to provide coverage to all policyholders in aggregate. Obviously different risk factors will increase or decrease individual premiums (age, gender, accidents, DUI's etc.). The company can pretty accurately predict the probability of you having a loss and the cost of parts. The wild card is when attorneys get involved. Don't get me wrong, there are occassions when either or both sides need one, but it is the abuse of the system that costs us all. A fake strained neck and a $3M settlement can't be contemplated in any meaningful way, and it happens a lot. Therefore premiums must go up to cover the abuse of the system and fraudulent claims. A second piece of this that I routinely hear is my Jeep is 10 years old, "why am I paying so much for full coverage?" The quick answer is that a "new" fender for a 10 year old Jeep costs nearly the same as the "new" fender for a new Jeep. Then there is the liability which is exactly the same exposure regarless of the age of vehicle. Add to that the legal fraud piece and you get the picture. Again, not defending anything said above, but it is important to understand that Insurers are not backed by the government, they are a for profit entity just like any other business. They are highly regulated and must prove their solvency to regulators indicating they have the ability to continue to pay claims. If they are uncompetitive, you can go somewhere else until their rates drop again. They operate is a highly competitive market. If a company could lower rates to gain market share, they would, but they have to remain solvent, and trust me the losses will catch up to an underpriced product. Yes, insurance companies can make a lot of money and they can lose a lot of money. They have a lot of money at stake at any given moment. If you total your $50K Jeep, they could pay the $50K, your medical expenses qucikly getting into six figures, defense costs if there was a suit etc. How much did you pay for this Six figure loss? Maybe $1,000 a year? The money has to come from premiums, which have to go up to cover these costs.

In terms of the original post, don't accept the response that they won't insure you. There is more to the story. Ask the agent why and keep asking until you get to the bottom of the reasoning.

Good Luck!

I’m currently insured with All State. My rate will go up next month so I began to shop around and so far GEICO is my best option, I’m waiting to see their price for my 17’ 3000 lbs travel trailer.
State Farm will not insure my 2021 Willys eco diesel Gladiator!!
No reason was provided.
What is the over riding fear of a Jeep Gladiator that makes State Farm wet their pants and cry like a little girl?
Wierd! State Farm insures my 2023 Gladiator Rubicon!

I once had a claim with Progressive. I dropped them after because it was such a horrible experience.

Dealing with State Farm is usually super easy.

That’s pretty weird. Normally they would give you some sort of explanation.

I am willing to bet it wont be the auto manufacturers that make certain vehicle types go extinct but rather insurance crazy rates and unwillingness to provide options
If you have trouble pushing your agenda via fuel prices, you find a work around to force the proletariat into acquiescing to the politburo

State Farm is not signing new policies in Calif. Due to the Insurance Commissioner's political decisions controlling the insurance companies risk levels/compensation that have and continue to rise due to the increase in crime, theft , and fire in that state and most of the west coast. Insurance companies are moving out of Calif, 3 major ones already have. Watch California Insider on UTube on the subject.

nice big fancy words. You clearly have zero clue who I am or what my preferences are. Also, politics dont belong on this forum. Be careful to not get yourself in trouble

My Wife's truck has been involved in 2 incidents with animals.
1 was a deer and 1 was a goose.

In both instances, we took our vehicle to the body shop we wanted and had the repairs done the way we wanted them and the work has a lifetime warranty.

No issues with Progressive on either, and 6 months later, we renewed and the rate had dropped slightly.

Both instances are no fault, we just had to cover the deductible.

With all insurance companies and repairs, IMHO, you never take it to a shop the insurance company recommends, as that seems to be a guarantee for cutting corners.

I had a long paragraph to post, but I decided it may be best to not write those things out.

I will say they may be overall a good company for some things, but I will in no way trust them with my assets from my personal experience as well as Progressive Agents that I know.

We all have to draw a line somewhere on some things.

Sure, but most other businesses don't constantly run TV ads talking about how great they are but then sometimes require legal action to get them to actually do what you pay them to do.

Otherwise, thank you for taking the time to type that up. Interesting to see it from that perspective.

Funny story about GEICO and USAA. As I'm an old fart, here are two old fart insurance stories.
Most people don't know that GEICO is an acronym. It stands for Government Employees Insurance Company. Back 'in the day' you had to be a US Government employee to purchase a policy. They were cheap back then!
Today USAA (United Services Automobile Association) touts its military heritage and all great things about it's past tradition of honor serving the US Military. What they neglect to mention is that when they were formed in 1922 by 25 US Army officers they considered enlisted personnel too dangerous (read Stupid) to insure their vehicles until the 1980's (or was it the 1990's)? So it was an Officer only Club.
These are not political comments or opinions, these are facts.
