Go Rhino RB20s. I have the bedliner finish but they have two options.

I like a full length step opposed to a drop step or even rails. Obviously most rails you can't step on at all. Drop steps only allow you to step on at the door area. I like being able to step up anywhere on the truck. My friend recently installed some on their wrangler like mine.

Rock Slide Engineering slider steps. They’re amazing. Many others are likely to chime in as well. Pretty much everyone that gets them loves them. The steps go down when the doors open. A magnet goes on the door and sensors go on the b pillar.

I met someone locally that’s running those. He was good enough to do a demonstration on how they operate. Pretty cool setup.

Another vote for Rock Slide Engineering. Sorry to anyone that thinks otherwise, but there is NO other option on the market that combines a legit step with a rock slider. Had them on my lifted JKUR and they'll be going on my Gladiator shortly. I'm pretty banged up with orthopedic injuries and my mother in law is both very short and disabled and they made getting in and out of my JK a night and day difference. The armor is a nice addition but unnecessary for all but the most extreme wheeling. RSE and others have done innumerable videos showing the absolute hammering they can take and still function perfectly; something that would leave AMP Powersteps or similar power deployable running boards in a mangled heap. Apparently more than one response to the OP's thread completely failed at reading comprehension; some of the suggestions given would make it worse/more difficult for his wife/kids to get in his Jeep, not easier...

And to answer the OP's question; they're frame-mounted like most (if not all) similar sliders are, and good luck putting more weight on them than they can handle...I forget what they're rated for but we never came remotely close to overloading them.

I see people talking about frame mounted (which I understand), however, what is the other way to mount other types of sliders\steps?

Are RSE frame mounted?
Most sliders are either frame mounted or body/pinch seam mounted or some combination of the three. RSE is frame mounted as far as I know.

After spending a few hours researching, I ordered the LOD
1: Frame Mount
2: No loss of ground clearance
3: Room to stand on rail anywhere on full length
4: Hides / protects Pinch weld
5: Ample footwell for cab access & egress
6: Fills gap at fender to protect from gravel chips
7: Smooth underside surface full length with nothing to hang up on.

RSE is frame mounted, via the body mounts, and also uses the pinch weld holes. It’s a very strong configuration. And it looks very good.

I get it, it’s an extreme trail, but I saw these LOD’s severely damaged on the rubicon trail. They were mostly a total loss. My RSE sliders did fine.

Yea I am convinced. RSE, need to wait a month to save more, but in the long run, it will be for the best.

Should it be a DYI or should I get someone to do it for me?

You can do it. It’s a bit of a pain, but totally doable. Including the wiring it’ll take up a decent part of your weekend, but it’s fine. Many have done them and can give suggestions. PM me and I’m happy to share contact info to give some pointers to save you some time.

I wasn't with you but would have to guess what you saw severely damaged were the LITE aluminum version.

I ordered the all steel ones.

Good call. They were aluminum. They didn’t survive. I didn’t know there were steel versions. I’m sure they do just fine.

Like @Summitdan said, you could knock it out in a 1/2-day (4-6 hours start to finish) if you worked straight through; give yourself an open weekend and you could definitely knock it out. An extra set of hands is arguably a requirement when getting them positioned on the pinch weld, otherwise it's a one-person job. Make sure your magnets/sensors are aligned and working PERFECTLY before you take the double-sided tape off and make it permanent. Good luck!

I saw these and really considered them; however, I heard if they get beat up on the trail they fail?
I think you're talking about some of the other brands---that literally tell you in the warranty paperwork that if you go off road the warranty is voided :(.

I've had my Gen 3 off road numerous times and had zero issues. Putting the damn things on however was an ungodly pain in the ass due to the requirement [some of us have and it warns you in the instructions] to literally file off some of the threads of the middle body bolt---with zero room to do so.

With the RSE if you plan on doing 6s or above, highly recommended that you get the armor that goes over them. You can see armor attached in pic. It’s like a second skin on the steps.

Ask me how i know. ?

RSE are the real deal.
