I have a 35 ft flatbed gooseneck for transporting two Jeeps when I go more than 600-700 miles away to wheel, haven't loaded the JT yet but have looked at issues with straps on axles. I use a double-loop ended strap around the axles connected to heavy ratchets pulling straight forward and rearward.
In the rear, strap goes around axle no problem, doesn't even bother the sway bar.
However, in the front there is so much stuff in the way. On passenger side there's the tie rod in the way except for a low angle but mainly the steering stabilizer allows no place for strap to go.
I will not strap to frame because it allows springs to bounce so how are folks strapping the front axle?
Would love to find a solution soon.

I towed cars on my flat bed trailer and used wheel straps similar to what you see on auto transport trucks. I had to add a couple of tie-down points however. Those wheel straps have been the easiest and most secure way yet. I just secure the front with the wheel straps and two other straps where ever easiest at the rear. I have not looked at my wheel straps to see how they would fit on a stock Rubicon wheel. Also not sure if they make a larger wheel strap that would work with an even bigger tire. Something to look at.

Sorry to intrude, but I'm curious. Why do you strap the axles? What does compressing the suspension achieve? Do they trailer better that way??

Strapping the axles actually avoids compressing the suspension.

If you strap to the body instead and compress the suspension, you're adding a lot of stress to the vehicle and the straps that one could argue isn't necessary.

When the truck bounces on the trailer the chance of a strap coming undone or snapping is increased due to the slack.

What wheels do you have on the JT?? Enough room to pass a strap through the wheel? (Strap only not the hook end)

I strap at the axle to AVOID compressing the springs. Makes for a strap that stays tight.

Yes, that's what I use, connected to snap hook ratchets. Problem is there's nowhere on front axle, especially passenger side, to avoid grabbing steering stabilizer or running into tie rod.

Interesting you mentioned that, I saw someone talking about a strap that passes through the wheel, then connects to the ratchet. May have to investigate.

Oh I get it now. You strap it to the trailer BY the axles. Thanks. I learned something today

I use the wheel straps to tie down my Wife's Can Am Ryker. Solid tiedown point, but the strap did wear away the paint/powder coat on the wheel. No big deal on a $10,000 motorcycle but wouldn't like it on my Jeep.
