Vehicles are scratched, dinged and broken in production all the time. They usually have a make ready repair area post production to fix these defects and any other quality escapements. None of that info is ever pass on to the dealers nor do the dealers care.

The same thing is going to happen here, they are going to fix what they can and ship them to the dealerships without disclosing anything nor are they required.

Anybody that has a incoming vehicle in this window are either going to have to inspect it themselves with a fine tooth comb or just refuse their vehicle outright but that has problems in and of itself if deposits nonrefundable deposits are involved.

I do not see a warm fuzzy assurance to be had here.

Once the vehicle has a VIN number, any natural damage to it (Flood, Hail ...) has to become part of the title. We're not talking a little scratch here or there. Hail can put tiny little dings all over the body which would be impossible to repair like new.
There's no law that says if the dealer hasn't taken it in yet that you can just fix it and say it didn't happen. If FCA decides to hide this fact it's going to cost them big. I don't care about my deposit as much as I care that I get the perfect and brand new truck that I ordered right off the factory floor.

Vehicles when new are given a "MSO" or manufacturing statement/certificate of origin and are not yet technically titled until the first owner. Unless precluded by particular state law, that leaves a big gray area the manufacturers and dealers play in on what they fix and if they do or do not disclose to the end buyer any damages before delivery.

I am sure in FCA's corporate head, they are going to PDR most of this hail damage and ship them "as is" undisclosed and treat any post delivery issues as warranty claims.

I know you're right, but I hate you anyway. lol. jk.
This is some very strange cosmic shit going on in my life atm.
Nearly everything I'm dealing with is in the same status as this Jeep. Very strange stuff.
We've been in escrow on a home for three months and the county refuses to issue permits for some repairs that need to be done before we can close. The status of the permit is about as illusive as the status of the JT. In fact I have to check on that several times a day just like I do the JT.

The other goofy thing that happened was my local Acura dealer called and they want to buy my NSX from me cause they need a used one for their showroom. That's more than a little strange timing wise.

It's as if the universe is trying to keep me from getting the house, the Jeep, and temping me to get rid of some expensive toys. I wonder if this is all a sign.

Oh crap. This makes perfect sense. Mine went from JB to JS. That’s exactly the kind of shit that would cause that. Oh well. It was nice knowing y’all.
My LE also went from JB to JS.
Really really tired of this waiting game.

It may be a long shot but it may just be possible that requiring spray in bed liner is to cover up hail damage. I just love conspiracy theories. :swear:

I have been in ‘I’ status since Thursday. I wonder if this could be a reason... It would be idiotic for Jeep to send Jeeps that have hail damage that has been covered up. The cost of the class action lawsuit could easily exceed the cost of scrapping the vehicles and rebuilding.

In a case where something is damaged during delivery there are ways to deal with it. The vehicle can be fixed to your satisfaction, a sales discount can be offered or you can simply refuse to accept it. An unregistered vehicle is not technically sold, therefore, VIN and titling to an individual or financial institution doesn't exist until registration transfers title.

BTW, another fun fact, if you're financing, the vehicle doesn't belong to you...the bank owns it and lets you drive and insure it until you pay them back.

Also, when the 2.0L JL's were schedule to be released in April 2018, a few of them caught on fire at the factory. The battery for the electric motor wasn't properly insulated. This placed a stop ship for many moons until they figured a fix out. If there is hail damage causing QC inspections to prolong your wait take that as good news.
