the passenger side sun visor falls out the socket on the "A" pillar, is this a common issue?

Yes it is. Its happened to me twice on the drivers side and once on the passenger side. Pain in the butt especially with the home link deal in the drivers side visor. Luckily my truck was still under warranty when it happened

kind of ridiculous that a $60k truck has this issue. I mean, visor tech hasn’t changed in decades so what did the Jeep engineers change on these visors to cause this failure?

Plastic retainer socket instead of a metal one. Probably saved $.05 each.

I don't mind bad designed products as engineering isn't always perfect on first try. What bugs me the most are when they knew of the common issues and aren't doing a got damn thing about it.

Edit: Most manufacturers used welded on nuts by robotics. Jeep wants to saved on manufacturing by just punches some square holes and uses tons of metal clips inserts instead. Hence most components feels flimsy even though it torqued down.

I learned one thing about the JT sun visors. In order to get long service from them, you mustn't touch them! ;)

Can anyone confirm that production for this has been updated for the 2023 model, I had heard that it was? Thanks Jim

Spot on. And when the passenger pushes the visor too far forward the plastic part cracks leaving the dangling visor. Happened to a friends JL and so I’ve been careful with the JT and no issues so far.

It’s unfortunate plastic was chosen for that retainer - but it won’t break without some “help” from the user if that is any consolation.
