Sunrider soft top

Deleted member 23202

I think this is definitely one thing that will change on upcoming year model JT's. Watching all the promo videos, no one really talks about the top after its flipped back. Like they know it sucks. They fold it back then change the subject. I very rarely drop the entire top. Don't like baking in the sun. Sunrider is nice for those spur of the moment good weather situations.
Jeep will probably do well by adapting the Sky-One-Touch Hard/Soft top. That would be cool.

somewhere there is a list of people who want bestop to make a top that will fold down to the box. I'm on the list. Looks weird hanging up there.
I need to be on that list of people... hopefully close to the top before I go and buy a cab cover/bonnet combo.

i ended up getting a sunrider for hardtop. BEST $800 I SPENT! I love how in 5 seconds I can have the top flipped back. i'm only 5'7" and i can flip it down without standing up, 5 seconds and its secured down again. i sometimes open/close it at stop signs, stop lights. its the bomb!

I debated getting the sunrider for a few months, and when I finally got the extra cash for it, i got it. Had it for a couple months now and super happy about the purchase. Alaska weather changes to often and unpredictably, so being able to close up in a few seconds is a life saver. Also, the april rebate drops made it a no-brainer.

Best money I've spent in my ride to date. Very impressed with it's function and construction. Very well built.
If I had to remove freedom panels I'd hardly every have the top open due to the inconvenience of storage and commitment. It's either on or off. With the Sunrider your just have a flip of 2 latches and down. Just as easy as going up. Rain or sun, cold or hot, riding alone or with others that don't like the wind and sun. Easy up and down with any senerio that pops up.
Trust me on this one. It's worth every dollar and I find myself using it on every trip due to its ease at some point.

Now Bestop please make soft half doors. PLEASE!!!!

The only trade-off between this and something like JTopsUSA.com Sun Shade is, besides the obvious $600 price difference, is function/use. This allows you to quickly flip open/close the top... the manual styles require a small amount of effort/time to attach but stores easily behind the seat or under. You can use the manual style with the hard roof (stays on). I'm a bit torn at the moment, so I've opted for the JTOP, in the absence of any reviews saying it's too much work to install/remove. It looks easy enough. They are presently shipping every 10 days or so, according to the owner, so pics are forthcoming.

Does anyone know how hard it is to remove the hardtop/go topless with the sunrider installed?

about 5-10 minutes extra... 6 bolts move the Sunrider forward, Remove hardtop... then secure sunrider back down (if wanted) I’ve done it... there is one issue ... the back of the sunrider uses the hardtops weatherseal to apply pressure on the back clamp/bolts. You will have to replicate this pressure

Well I was gonna go with Sunrider but I managed to get ahold of a unopened premium soft top for $1200 and I couldn't pass it up. Considering I am down in Galveston a lot I want to be able to just open up the jeep and close it back up or just take it all the way off quickly as I think there was a thread on the forums about how to set it up for quick take off and on. Now I just have to figure out where to store the hard top and eventually decide to keep it should I not like the soft top or just put the hard top back on in the colder months and for long road trips where the top might not need to come off.
The bun is not an issue to me. Now I just need some lockable under seat storage

I would do the same if I could find one cheap like that close enough to me. Do you ever leave the back window in when you have the top back?

I’ve driven on I-75 down here in SWFL between Naples & Fort Myers with the top back and back window on, it was perfectly fine. I won’t tell you the speeds I was traveling, but I tend to have a lead foot and in general people travel a good bit over the 70mph speed limit down here.
