So, replacing the shocks? Those are easy to do with the right tools. You can pick from a dozen or so shocks depending on how you want your Jeep to ride - Fox, Bilstein, Ebach, Rancho, Tereflex.

I thought the front had shocks?

Rancho RS7MT is all the shock you’ll need for what you do and they are $71 each and about a 35 min job to replace all 4 even taking a sip of beer between each one.

Those factory shocks are leaking after 3 years with light off road ?

that’s what I was told, took it in to the dealer for a full evaluation for a different issue related to a wreck.

I put 5100s on my jeep in a few hrs taking my time. It took about as long to jack it up, put it in half stands and remove and reinstall the wheels as it did to install the shocks.

I highly recommend jacking it up and letting the suspension droop so you aren’t fighting to compress the shocks.

I’m sorry the dealer happened to you man. Maybe hookup with someone in your area that can square this away for $300 worth of RS7MT’s and a six pack.

Not surprised concerning the dealers considering what they up charge for changing Intake and Cabin filters.

What about taking it to a body shop?

The concept of changing struts/shocks around 30-40k miles isn't anything new people, it's actually a common maintenance mark for multiple items on vehicles: struts/shocks (valving starts to show less control over bumps/holes), tranny/gear/diff oils, brakes (yes, brake fluid every 1-2 years), tires, bushings....all of those wear out and can show noticeable improvement on ride quality on control, more so on some vehicle types than others.

Many shop still use this common knowledge (if you work in the industry, or race/drive spiritedly) to not only make money when in for other services, but also these items CAN fail you on state inspection.

Ever seen that vehicle going down the road and one wheel keeps bouncing even after the pothole? Ever seen the rear axle bounce a few more times after the pothole? That's the struts/shocks that have NOT been replaced. They have tiny holes inside that allow fluid through at a certain rate, overtime those holes open up due to cavitation and don't allow the suspension to control the unsprung weight, and that fluid can leak onto your brakes and prevent you from stopping effectively too.

While it might not make sense to some, they probably don't understand why going 10k miles on an oil change is bad either.

But hey, I'm not an automotive engineer or anything, I just have education and experience on building race vehicles and am factory trained on multiple brands.

Then I guess the price sounds right ?🤣🤣🤣🤣
Late reply, for a dealer or tire shop? Yeah that sounds about what their corporate asses would charge for OEM/= stuff. Obviously you COULD DIY if you wanted or go somewhere else. I most likely won't buy Mopar suspension when they need replacing, maybe the LCAs but that's it.

@RARRRRRR any updates?
