Hey, Blucid. I have an RSI smartcap on order and am torn between ordering the 23zero 62" or the 23zero 72". I know I wouldn't be able to get the cross rails quite as close to the edge of the tent on a 72", but I have 4 kids, so getting a larger tent would give us more flexibility. Having mounted the 62", do you think the 72" would be stable enough over-bed?

I was kinda in the same boat, I only have a 3 year old right now. But I wanted something for the future so I was planning to get the 72" but then I measured it twice, and cut one type of deal the overhang would be too much I personally think and well it would not fit into my garage as you see.

I ended up getting the 62" its got quite a bit of space, but maybe for 2 adults and 2 kids might be a wee bit tight.

That RSI Smart Cap is quite sturdy from what I can see, not sure how much it can hold but I think it should hold up fine. The tent doesnt weight a lot so if you just have that on it you are fine, and when you are parked only static weight applies. The other thing you could do is you can mount it anyway you like because you have an awesome platform, I would turn it and have it open up towards the back. The way the tents are made they are always 48" wide but vary in length.

Nothing too special just a clean small stubby antenna replacement. Got the black with the slight carbon trim on the bottom, looks good have not tested it out yet radio wise.

Mod #010 - JCR Offroad - Overhead Molle Panel
Mod LINK // Completed May 10 / 2021
Getting started with the Molle Panels for gear and accessories, this one I decided to grab because of the radio that I will mount and maybe the GPS Device. I am really happy with the panel, easy install and very nice quality.

Build / Part List and Plans
Plan: Overland / Camping Build, I will not be shy with this vehicle doing off-roading and actual 4x4. I am just not too interested in doing rock crawling. Also the build is on a very tight height limit which is a shit deal to be honest. My Garage door opening is 82" Inches high. So everything has to fit under that with the RTT on the bed rack. Its quite the challenge and everything requires measuring like 50 times.

Mod List / Numbered List

#001 - Mopar Performance Bumper Front Rubicon
#002 - Mopar All Weather Rubber Mats
#003 - Mopar Tonneau Cover Soft Roll Up
#004 - Quadratec Grab Handles
#005 - WARN Storage Bags
#006 - Vector Offroad - JL E-Dock / Gladiator Full Width
#007 - KB Voodoo Fabrication MAX Modular Truck Bed Rack 10"
#008 - 23.Zero Walkabout 62 Queen RTT
#009 - Rydonair 7" Inch Antenna
#010 - JCR Offroad - Overhead Molle Panel

Great info. Thanks for taking the time to add all the links. I wish I would have seen this before I started my research. I just bought my JTRD a couple weeks ago and the build is about to begin. Need a tonneau first, and I was also leaning towards the Jackrabbit. Seems like a quality retractable which is what I need. I ordered a BAK Revolver 4xs through Amazon. Arrived missing all sorts of parts. It was obviously a return, ...and it is again. Gave me time to read some bad reviews and decide against it. I, too, need a fridge, a short one to fit under the cover. Thanks again for taking the time to post the links.

You are very welcome, just like with loads of other things in life. You can get carried away really fast and spend a lot of money you dont need too. Research is king.

I am very happy to be part of the #23Zero Family. I am quite surprised by the build quality, mostly because lets be honest most things you buy now-a-days is not really build that well. But the quality of the mattress, the material choices, and the sheer quality of the zippers they used is incredible. I have set up the tent twice now and its incredibly easy. Really pleased with my purchase.

If you guys have any questions about the RTT or the install let me know, ill try to answer as best as I can.

So I have the exact same tent. When it was mounted on my Tacoma with a KB Voodoo Rack, I had enough room on one side to mount a Pelican Case, as you can see on the picture.

Today I installed a Revel Off Road Xplore High Rack. It is much beefier than the KB Voodoo but I’m not sure how much room there is and how I’ll situate the tent quite yet. The way it looks in your picture, you have it sitting off to the passenger side but opening to the Driver’s sid? Is that right?
I could swear I was told by the guys at 23 Zero to mount it right to the edge on the side I would open it to? Or did I get that wrong?

Here are some pics to show what I’m talking about:

Nice Rig, and nice pictures. Mine was mounted slightly to the passenger side because when opened I wanted to use the rack as a stable point. Because I though it would be flush against the bed rack. But since that is not the case, we moved it into the middle. No clue what the Zero people told you but yeah I am guessing so when you open the tent you don't damage the bottom of it against the bedrack, that's the only thing I could think would happen.

I would mount it always in the middle anyways, you know weight distribution. Since the tent is higher now it will sway the truck more and the weight will be thrown around more. Causing more stress, so mounting it fully to the middle would be better.

Its here, just sitting and waiting to be installed. I also have to order the mounting plate for the Winch as well. So there is that... But I think we have decided to do the install in my garage. We are more then capable its a super simple install.

Not really sure what the next item on the list will be, but we did run into a flat last time going out. So maybe a nice air compressor install? Got out my trusty ARB Speedy Tire Seal Kit [Link], haven't used it yet but all the tools inside are amazing. They really put some though into the design and what the kit needs. Repaired the tire, and used a generic compressor to get it back up. Good Times.

Mod #011 - Warn Industries VR Evo 12s Winch - Mod LINK
+ Warn Industries Mounting Plate - Mod LINK
Completed Jan 22 / 2022

The holidays here in Vancouver, Canada were quite literally a gong show. After Halloween a few storms came through, with lots of rain. We are talking about 250+mm of rain across 1-3 days. Then after the rain storms, came in the snow. December was mostly covered in snow. Highways were shutdown because of massive flooding, and the rain damaged 3 major highways to get out of Vancouver towards the mountains and camping spots.

Last 2.5 Months, nothing really happened, we were just cooped up inside relaxing and being sick. But I did get to order my last piece for the Warn Winch Install.

Last Weekend we did the install in my garage. Very Straight forward, nothing too crazy. Opened all the boxes up and laid all the parts out. I am in love with the build quality of the WARN Industries items. Attention to details and quality is quite high.

Nothing Special this week, just decided to finally pull the trigger on a GPS Device with SOS Features. I purchased a Zoleo GPS Device with the Basic Sub Package. Maybe ill do a full review after a few months of usage. I also purchased a bunch of RAM Mounts and the Zoleo Cradle Kit so I can securely mount it into my cockpit.

Nice thread man.

I am also out in BC, Vancouver Island.

What site/book are you using to plan your trips? Did you come across somewhere that outlines all of these back roads?

Thanks in advance!
