I worked for a dealer for 12 years. If a car came in that was bought from another dealership, it was always put to the bottom of the list and then some.
I am of the belief that there is no longer any honor in the Car Biz. Once you buy a car, the salesman will only bat an eye if you come back to buy another car. CS is nonexistent in the Car Biz these days. Building relationships mean very little also, since the turn over is so high in dealerships these days. Go the guy that offers the best price. Anyone will service your car since the Factory offers the warranty not the Dealer. After my factory warranty expires, I will not go back to the dealership. The service department accounts for about 35% of the overall revenue at a dealership, I doubt they care about where the car came from. The service advisors work on commission, the more business, the more money they make. The experience has been "enlightening" with Gupton! Order instead of picking off the lot. I plan to make all my future purchases the same way. I believe the dealership model is outdated.

For service, in the DFW area I have heard good things about reaching out to John Caleb Wilson at Dodge City of McKinney. He has a Gladiator, is one for the organizers of the DFW Gladiator Club, and he caters to jeepers. I haven’t used him yet, and the dealership is over an hour from me, but I plan on taking it to him if I need work.

I saw this and thought it was a nice summary. Still waiting for mine to come in. Ordered 12/28. Jeep Chat says it is in transit:

Seems to be some confusion on here. Placed my order end of Nov and just picked up my Gladiator from Gupton last week. Here’s current the Gupton deal:

- Gupton’s flat discount is 5% below invoice
- an additional 1% is possible if you use dealer financing
- yet another 1% is possible for if you have affiliate pricing (like Tread Lightly, use the search to find more info on that)

Your total discount below dealer invoice will be 5%, 6% or 7% depending on if you qualify for those last two discounts. That roughly equates to 10%-12% below msrp. Any factory incentives for your zip code at the time you pick it up will also apply on top of the the above discounts.

After discount they’ll add in Jeep’s $1595 destination charge (no escaping that) a $500 documentation fee, and $14.50 for a 1 day TN registration fee. You’ll be required to pay the appropriate tax and registration fees for your home state… I chose to roll my state’s sales tax into my financing and will have to pay out of pocket for my state registration once I get my paperwork in the mail. So all of those things combined make up the total “out the door cost” of your Jeep. That and any travel costs to get to and from Gupton if you aren’t local.

Once you are ready to place your order, you’ll pay a non refundable $1000 deposit (which goes towards your down payment on the car upon delivery).

Hello All, I ordered from Gupton as well. 2/4 Truck is built and in shipping already! should arrive sometime between 2/22 and 3/7. Hopefully, closer to 3/7 as my Tread Lightly FCA Letter 30 day window opens on 3/10. :fingerscrossed: I think I may be the only one hoping it will move slowly LOL

Other than not having the time to get there and back, I ordered mine in Texas to get the Texas Trail. Pick it up tomorrow in Houston. Ordered 12/4 and arrived there 2/14

For anyone in the austin area, I have ordered my last 2 jeeps from Covert Jeep, and both have been great experiences. FYI before you go all the way to Tennesee, might want to give them a try.

Just picked mine up from Covert last week. Pretty good experience overall. It's cool when your salesman and the document person both own Jeeps.

Howdy :like: I ordered mine on 12/31. Got the message from Renee on FEB 14 that my order arrived in Gupton:fingerscrossed: . Thank you for the above info. Trying to get everything organized before flying up.

Sold my truck last night! Got a pretty good deal from CarMax and a pretty hassle free experience.

That being said, I tried to engage with Nyle Maxwell but couldn't get anyone to call me back or email me. I'd heard bad experiences from Covert and also dealt with Covert Ford which wasn't a good experience, so didn't engage with them. Glad to hear that you guys had great experiences Covert.

At the end of the day, the Gupton deal won out because of the seamless experience and ease of communication.

Come on March 10th! Papa needs that Tread Lightly Control Number!

I ordered from Gupton on 1/3, current dealer ETA is 2/25-3/7 (original Jeep wave email said week of 2/27). Hopefully I’m flying up next week to pick mine up. Sold my JK to Chuck Nash in San Marcos last Saturday so I’m driving the rib’s Q50 in the interim (not complaining, it’s a rocket). My BIL bought a Lexus from a dealer in Denver and drove it back to Houston years ago and since then I’ve wanted to do the same so I’m excited for the journey. I will also update with my experience once I get home.
