I am sure many of you are familiar with the plastic nipple on the end of the sun visor rail that cracks off suddenly, one day, while you are trying to adjust it causing it to come out of the bracket (dangling uselessly from its wiring if it's the left one). This is due, in my opinion, to an absolutely terrible design and disregard for the materials used.
Apparently, this is a well-known problem and had I researched it even a little...I would have noted the existence of many types of repair brackets, sold by the usual purveyors, that fit over the end of the plastic bit and hold the broken sun visor back in place somewhat securely. I would have very likely 3D printed or ordered some.
I did not do that, tho. I was in a hurry. The sun is very bright.
The following is a brief guide to how I bodged together a repair from stuff I found in my garage. It does address the fundamental flaw in Jeep's terrible bracket design. If I get around to designing a better one, I will post the .STL for the 3D printer crowd.
