I’m interested in this related subject. I haven’t made up my mind. Where do people stand on stickers warning if security systems? “Warning, Secured by …….”, etc. I’m torn between whether the sticker will save me a broken window if it gives them pause, or if the sticker will tell them what they need to beat. I’d rather not give them hints with a sticker. I’ve considered custom stickers that don’t relate to any specific brand of system, but might be a reason for them to move on to an easier target. I’d appreciate others’ thoughts.

There's an excellent question - you can simply buy stickers to put on - and do thieves realize this, or are they taken seriously, or do some simply believe they'll get past that anyway, and ignore that?
Some may view it a a bluff?
Some may know they can get past it?
Some may be turned off by it and move on?
I doubt it would attract any attention, such as for me "hey, a challenge - bet I can beat that in 10 minutes, I'm going for it" but will it deter?
If it would deter even 1 out of 10 - then it has value?
Is it maybe to be viewed as yet another layer? Stop at least one or two casual thieves?

All of that has gone through my mind. I keep going back and forth. Now that I’m not nearly as worried about a successful theft, I’m trying to avoid a failed attempt requiring a window replacement and/or interior damage.

They can still just program a different fob. That really doesn’t stop anything. I concur with kill switches. I just added interrupts for both fuel pump and starter. It’s not going anywhere without a tow truck.
It is more difficult actually if your fob isn't there to replicate a signal from. So yes, it could stop a lot of potential situations where someone would try to use an existing fob signal to start the truck.

There are ways to bypass anything, just like your interrupt switches. It's just a matter of making it difficult.

 well, what I was really getting at was the fobs and truck were well away from each other...they couldn't talk and that didn't have any effect on my batteries in the fobs...for an extended period of time.
Whew1 Was wondering there for a while.
No, just kidding. That's a good point - distance didn't matter.......... and that's something most won't get into - a FOB 1500 miles away.

I know some thieves can program a new fob in without needing to clone an existing fob. Key programing can easily be prevented with a CAN Immobilizer.
But some thieves are still using fob cloning devices to steal cars.
So saying "The faraday box won't deter them at all" is equivalent to saying - don't lock your front door of your house because that won't deter a home invader because they can always break into your house through your back window or don't bother putting a kill switch in because they can always flatbed your car away.
Different thieves steal using different methods, you have to protect yourself from as many methods as you can.
Agreed completely

Agreed. But having seen how they do it without the fob’s signal, I personally chose to go further.

So I'll bet none of you leave your vehicle with the doors off at the boat ramp?

I would. They won’t break a window to find out it’s hard to steal.

Personally I like my hidden Tazer with pin lock best. It is essentially a kill switch. Just the same as you would hide the kill switch, you hide the Tazer instead. Then you use a secret button combination to "turn of the kill switch". Even if you leave the Jeep running at the boat ramp you are protected because once you (the fob) leave the vehicle, even with it running, once you try and put it in gear the anti theft is activated until you enter the secret pin in. The anti theft on the tazer is that it looks all four brakes until you put the pin in. Z Automotive is coming out with a firmware update that will add different methoded of immobilizing the car, like dead peddle, etc ..
But just like the kill switch, all of the different "anti theft" devices are only as good as the install. Be neat and clean and make it look factory!!!

No offense. All layers are layers, but that’s the easiest one to circumvent. Remove the tazer. Start truck. They can’t be that hidden, as they’re connected to the wires under the dash, no matter how much you extend them.

I guess you didn't look at my thread where I made a relocation harness to put the tazer in other places, mine is not under the dash...

I didn’t, but the factory wires are still there, right? The ones that used to connect to the two security ports.
