Someone please talk some sense into me....

....having THAT much power is just going to ruin my truck.
It’s only $12000(4). If you don’t compute that, it’s not a bad deal.

This is 40k easy!

Motor, Transmission, Dana 60's, transfer case (?), and all the other odds and ends...

It would be easier for me to pick up a 392 Challenger and have the best of both.

(I can't afford a 392 Challenger and the Jeep at the same time)
It would easily outrun a 392 Challenger which isn't that quick but still a great car.

The Challenger Drag Pak had a similar engine and they ran a 7.5 second qtr mile. the stock 5.7 is 345 cubic inches and the drag pak is 354. I wonder what the story on that engine is with it being built with forged internals and so cheap

Go for it and see where the limits of the stock parts are. I am not sure what transmission you'll need though but I would think some good axles and driveshafts would keep you going for a while unless you hooned it

Dig out the ole checkbook. Just $33 a day, for a year, and you’ll have that paid off in no time.

As you probably well know that will require a new 8HP90 transmission to be coupled with it . A complete overhaul of the suspension and heavier axles . It would cost way more than 12,000 to complete the swap about 30,000 . So yes resist the temptation ?

So right. I learned my lesson with my ‘92Mustang LX. Heads, headers high lift cam 3.73 gears, and B&M blower. Never dynoed decent numbers despite having a new chip. But it was enough to break valve springs on two separate 150-200 mile trips away from home. The last straw was blown 4th gear (OD) on the stock auto transmission. My conclusion was that unless you know exaptly what you want (I did) and what you’re doing (I went to localtuners) I would simply be exposing weak links. Not fun limping home on 7 cylinders with 3000-4000 foot elevation changes along the way.

Now that I think about it... if you can get the back across the border you can probably make a good chunk of change or break even worst case. You won't lose money, might gain a story or two...
