OP, my question to you would be: what's your primary use of the vehicle?

Off-roading? Towing?

A less than year old Gobi Max Tow with only 5K miles is JT gold. In reading your original post, it appears your Sport S Max Tow now has most of the Rubicon bits except for the 8.4, cold weather pkg, sway bar disconnect and lockers. As you mentioned, those can be added. You need to get the steering TSB done (don't procrastinate).

Sarge and Nacho are sweet colors indeed. But Nacho, especially, is very hard to come by.

Bottom line, do what's best for you and your family, but I don't see the value in jumping from a 2020 to a 2021 when you just have 5K miles on your vehicle, it's one of the highest in-demand colors, and it's already modded to account for some of the Rubicon parts gaps.
Cold weather can be added easily??
My primary use is mainly enjoyment riding. Offroad trails when I can get around to it. I do tow, but its nothing that I believe I needed max tow after all. (Fish / Ski boat)

I’d be more interested in a trade up if I hadn’t already pumped so much money into the Jeep I have, now. I could move about half of it over, but the other half is sunk cost and likely unrecoverable. Plus I’ve got a Gobi. I would be happy with a Sarge, but I don’t think my wife and daughter would be happy. They’d miss the Gobi.

Uh, no. I was referring to your mentioning of the sway bar and lockers.

Honestly by your responses, I think you've made up your mind. Pull the trigger on a 2021 and call it a day. :jk: Just let us know where it's being turned in because I'm sure someone on here would want a Gobi Max Tow with only 5K! Ha.

I'm contemplating doing this but the opposite direction. Thinking about selling my 2020 Rubicon and buying a 2021 Sarge Green Texas Trail. After two years of ownership, I have realized that the Rubicon has way more features than what I need off-road wise. For the areas I camp in and for weekend beach trips, lockers and sway bar disconnect is overkill. If I get the Texas Trail, I could potentially make a few thousand dollars on the sale and then have a lower monthly payment.

Edit: May not work out like I thought. Carvana and KBB value is about $7,000 less than Vroom. Doesn't make sense to do it if I can't come out ahead.

I saw you traded. Did it work out like you thought?

Yes. Sold it to www.givemethevin.com and got a lot more for it that vroom, Carvana or CarMax.
What did you get. I went through Kelly blue book and sold my BMW yesterday. Vroom offered me more at first but a dealership through KKB contacted me a really wanted it. They offered $3000 more than vroom so they got it. Ended up selling it for $5000 more than I paid for it last year

What are you guys buying as a result?

Obviously the chip shortage has caused a huge bump in used car prices. But that's because new cars are either sky high or not available. I drove by my local OC Jeep dealer and they usually have about 12 - 15 Gladiators lined up in the front. There were 3 this morning.

Curious what you guys are buying after you're selling...

And a Rubicon can't be modified for the added payload?
Technically yes, legally no. Those numbers are provided by the manufacturer as certified values which are tied to the VIN. Technically you can add stiffer springs and make it haul more load but if you go on the scales and are over the GVWR you get a ticket anyway.

I sold my BMW to free up some income, the wife and me are buying a condo at the beach and I'm just trying to be able to get more condo. Also looking at buying a Porsche 911 in about 3 or 4 yrs when the Gladiator is paid off and we want have any car payments.

Imo I say go for the Rubicon in Sarge and get every option you didn’t. This is an unprecedented time to get crazy money for used cars and trucks on trade, yet still get good deals on new. I had a ā€˜19 JLU Rubicon that I loved, but it didn’t have the 8.4 and Alpine, or leather, or blind spot warning system. So, in February I traded my Rubicon with 10k miles, got right at what I’d paid for it plus over 7k off the sticker of the Mojave. The Mojave has every single option I wanted to begin with and I couldn’t be happier. Life is short. If you can afford it, do it.

I've ordered another Gladiator through a dealer that is still doing 5% below invoice on orders. And so far the material/parts supply issues don't seem to be impacting the price or time line too badly. So far...

Yeah, not a buyers market for most people.

We needed to get rid of the wife’s QX as the paint started peeling, craziest thing I’ve ever seen.
We bought new, as it was a better deal than used.

Our Jeep dealer will sell below invoice and never will exceed msrp. Even if buying a red eye, hellcat, etc.

my wife’s white WK2 High Altitude is now parked by my JTRD.

It looks good parked by my stingray
