My camera stopped working - until I messed with the connectors behind the plastic plate in the rear end of the bed floor where the cable exits the truck and goes to the tailgate.
That is a connector that's prone to bad connections, apparently.
Wiggled and pulled and pushed on the connector, and it's been working since.

The connections at the third light are also apparently weak.

I don't think it's the connector, but it's the led internal circuit. I can make it comes on by tapping the lamp, like how we used to be tapping the TVs lol

Sounds right.

Are you really that old ?? LOL

Yeah, you aren't the first person to mention the connection at the board of the light. Apparently where the wires are connected isn't exactly aircraft quality.

Hi there! Our team recommends a dealership visit for any concerns you're currently experiencing. Feel free to send us a private message if you need extra support while there.

48 hours for the dealer diagnostic WITH an appointment. Unload the truck of personal items as not for them to disappear, rental car about $500. a week with only $35. a day reimbursement, fuel both ways, reload personal items? Who knows if it’s a tech or the guy that sweeps the floor getting the labor flag. I don’t think so. Ordered the 68338388AC part number & parted with $75. then installed it myself. No Tylenol needed.

Sounds like a dealership issue. I scheduled a oil change at my dealership after they diagnosed the problem and they did my steering box, oil change And third brake light And a update to the computer in 4hrs. No headache and it was all free.

Would've been even better if you was installed it yourself at that dealer ?

Mine quit altogether. The light was the problem.
Under warranty, but since it’s a light, it’s not covered. Cost me over $300 for the dealer to repair, and then tell me it’s not covered!
You can buy just the light for about $60.

Kevin
Is that even legal? In California a written estimate is required prior to charging anything.

Very good question. I don't know if it's law here in Iowa or not, but dealers act like it is because before they'll touch non-warranty, you have to sign off and agree to the estimate, etc.

OK, you got me curious and I looked it up - straight from the Iowa AG ->

You should get your money back, its definitely a covered under warranty part. Mine was covered under warranty and a couple others on here have been covered as well. I had a issue with the third brake light on my JKU as well that was also covered by the warranty. If your within the 3yr 36,000 mile factory warranty basically the only thing that's not covered is basically things like brakes, rotors , brake pads, tires wearing out.

Lights are covered for 1 year/12,000 miles.
So.......... no, it's not 3 nor 36,000 for lights/bulbs - it's in your book.

The following are covered for ONE year or 12,000 miles so they can say sorry, and charge you at 13,000 miles or 12 months and 1 week.

Most of us treat replacement LEDs as "bulbs" and frankly, I'd bet that they can say "that's a bulb" because when you put LED in your headlights you post that you used an LED bulb.

Think of those who put LED "bulbs" in their headlights, so, if it can be called a bulb, it's 1 year.

My dealership said that they aren't considered bulbs because it runs on a board. I had 22,000 miles on mine when they did it and said it was covered. I really just said not sure if it's covered or not And my guy without hesitation said it's definitely covered for the full 3yr 36,000, same as led factory lights and led factory brake lights ECT... are. Normal bulbs are under the 1yr, 12,000 mile warranty though that is correct.

The large pins on the small board inside the light break loose. Sometimes you can get lucky and fix them, and sometimes not. I stripped the guts out and replaced them with a simple $8 red led strip from Amazon. No pins to fail anymore.
