Trying to hunt down a mystery clunk and found this. The clunk happens in 2wd as well as in 4 high. I've only been in 4wd probably 10 times and all for probably less than 2 minutes each time and don't have a fad delete so the front driveshaft hasn't gotten much of a workout, but it looks like grease flung all over the place when I put it into 4 high to see if the clunk was still there. I test drove it with my automotive instructor tonight and when we were in 4 high, he said it felt like the axles were locked even though they weren't. Super hard to turn and lotta chirping of the front and back tires in the parking lot. Rubitrux changed out the gears a few years ago, but other than that, everything between the axles is stock. Jeep has just over 30k miles on it and has the 120k mile extended warranty though Jeep. Just thought I'd hop in here and get some input before contacting the dealer. Thanks!

Driving on a paved parking lot and turning is going to bind things up tires could be chirping and fighting the wheel. Still does not explain the grease , can you see where it is coming out of driveshaft?, is it even coming out of driveshaft for sure?Front drive shaft is not turning in 2WD. I had a thunk on my Jeep was checking everything it was in front somewhere, yup it’s a metal 3/4” shackle in a plastic bag that would bump against floor on turns, it was an eye opener! …..Jack

I cannot tell from the video audio but is it coming from the front or back of the vehicle?

If me, would be taking the FAD motor off and seeing where the slip collar is at when you have it set in 2WD. Generally the FAD motor electronics is usually pretty good to send a service 4WD message if not fully in lock or unlock position

There is a TSB for the early 2020 models for a grinding noise over bumps and to inspect for loose play in the output shaft inside the intermediate shaft bushing and if found to replace both output and intermediate shafts. I am not certain this has any issue with what you are having but just putting it out there for something to look at if in the FAD area.

That video just shows normal operation, even in 2wd with the FAD disconnected you will get some parasitic drive. I wouldn't be concerned at all. Any 4x4 in and engaged state will hope and bind while turning on pavement. If it hopes and binds in a straight line you have bigger problems.
