NC_Whateva there is a “Preview” button before you post. So quick to use the “F” word but so lazy as not spell check.

Also, what is Auto India? I think you are on the wrong forum, Bro-

You give Jeep owners a bad name....we can all be cool man unless you jump in and blast the poster with your thoughts. I’m sure you do that for everything. “Oh man, it is asinine to do this, that”....hey we were looking to see if you had leaks. You just got a leaky mouth and keyboard fingers dude.

I never post a blast, but your soap-boxing is bananas man.

*If you need to look-up any of the big words I used, “copy” and “paste” into Google.
I’m sorry. My father in law had a massive stroke and It’s been super stressful and I came on here as an escape and shouldn’t have. I’m not in a good state of mind right now. I do think researching vehicles that far out is a waste of time, but I should have kept my feelings to myself. I edited my post to take the profane word out.

Had the panels out multiple times and the entire roof off twice in the past month and have had no leaks with lots of heavy rain lately.

note - I have headliners from the factory and could immediately tell when I drove in another stock Overland without them. They definitely help dampen noise. Is it enough to justify OEM prices....not as sure.

Thanks for owning the mistake and apologizing. I’ve really appreciated the way this forum has been supportive of newbies and experts alike with minimal judgement.

Yes...a couple of random leaks in the middle top of the front passenger side window on my JT. It surprised the heck out of me since I haven’t had any tops off yet.

It was raining pretty good, and I’m sure there Is already some pre-moss in there (western Washington, go figure).

I went through the complete seal replacement on my JK with that handbook someone wrote. The muckets were the best part of the kit that solved the problem. The JK mainly leaked between the freedom top panels and the hard top onto the front passenger and rear seat driver ‘s side floorboard (4 door).

What blows me away is @NC_Overland is not from NC! I feel like I don’t even know you anymore lol.
AJA, @NC_Overland is a good dude. His post history reflects that. Everyone has bad days.

Also, no leaks to report in my 3 months of ownership. It’s rained a ridiculous amount here too. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think the JL’s share a similar 3 piece hard top design. If that’s the case, you could probably even look back quite a few years and see if they’ve had any leak issues. Good luck on your search.

No leaks here despite some heavy rains and having removed the panels a few times.

As for the Hot Heads Liner it is absolutely worth it. Like the OP I research the hell out of major purchases and I found a video of a guy who tested the interior temps of the truck both with and without the headliner in it. After a few hours in the hot sun the difference was about 15 degrees if I remember correctly. It is also quieter. A well worth option.

I had a bit of a leak at the middle seam of my last Jeep. It being my third Jeep in my driving life I was used to 'It's a Jeep thing'. Ran some caulk along the seam and the issue went away.

I also LineX'd the interior of my last hard top black. This also had the added benefit of a good amount of sound deadening.

As for the why research 2 years out. If I plan to spend 45-50k of my hard earned money and am debating between 2 brands and makes if it makes me crazy so be it, but I want to make a good informed decision and i research things long term to help for me to make a better decision. I don't just jump into things.
I researched for about three months before ordering. Thought I might have to wait until next year, but "fortunately", my present vehicle, which is 16 years old and 340,000 miles, started giving me trouble, forcing my hand. Am am still researching , even though ordered a month and a half ago.

had mine for 15 days now, plenty of rain (including today) with some really heavy downpours. I've taken off my whole roof a few times now and no leaks :)

I'm like you where I research cars for years. I like cars and I like to keep current on them, especially on those I like. It makes it easier when you want a vehicle and you don't have to start researching and trying to find history on them, you can just get informed and then follow things as they go, smart move.

Hi everyone,
I am wondering if the three piece hard top if anyone has had any issues with it leaking?
Also does the hard top insulator panel thats an opinion help with keeping heat in, aside from added weight whats the purpose of it?
I am two years out from buying but researching and looking at a gladiator rubicon vs a toyota Tacoma trd offroad or pro. However i really like the idea of a convertible truck.
I would ordered with a hard top and go aftermarket soft top.

Thanks everyone,

Joe
You might want to look at the Boom Mat at Quadratec.

I'm in Houston and we get hundreds of inches of water a year (sometimes that much in week). During the heaviest downpour where you have to stop diving on the freeway because you can't see (did I mention it rains a lot here?) I have never had an issue in my JK from the hardtop- My Trektop NX on the other hand would leak occasionally from the area around the front seals against the windshield frame, but only a drop or two in the heavyiest rain. So far no leaks from the JT hardtop or Mopar Softop, but we've been in a dry spell. Give me a couple of weeks and I'll report back.

Heck, I have leaks in my Dakota top, and it is non-removable part of the body!

But then again, it's 16 years old.

No leaks here either, there was a bit of a whistling noise above 60mph but a small easy adjustment fixed that....jeep promotes the headliner as both for temperature insulation and noise deadening......how effective It is at either, who knows
