lmao, i'm like a boomerang, back to thinking more about 8020 stuff since i can't weld aluminum. After choking on a burrito while reading about Nuthouse Industries pricing, the 8020 actually sounds cheap.
this looks like it could be made with 3" wide profiles. But i'm lost with how to make connections with 8020 when pieces aren't at 90 degrees.

They've got 30deg, 45deg60deg.

So I imagine you need to use either 2 45deg or a 30 with a 60 to complete your 90deg turn.

They make connectors that allow you to create any angle you want!

I was really thinking about going the 8020 route, but I'll probably go with a Max-Modular rack https://www.max-modular.com/shop-max-modular/alu-max-22-high-aluminum-truck-bed-rack

you can always fabricate some custom angled brackets or there are some multi angle connectors.

Yea that's a great build.

I do want a slideout - but I'm worried that with only 17.5" of depth, the slideout itself has to have an extremely low profile. Bedslide's profile is 4.5" - which might be waaaay too much. This may very well be a problem for some nice plywood and home depot rails.

I contacted max modular asking if their racks would fit a gladiator and if they made any covers for it and this is what they said,

"
Our STEEL Max and ALUYMAX racks will adjust to fit the width of your bed:
https://www.max-modular.com/shop-max-modular

Aside from that, we have no idea how the rack would attach, We haven't seen one of those in person yet.

We do not make any canvas covers.

Well a handy Joe could use the stock mounts for the off-road cargo managment kit, or drill holes, or use their universal clamps.

If I get my JT in time, i might be the first guy with this rack in a JT .
