Went to go check them out...only 1 in stock w/ no expected restock date yet, so unfortunately it's a moot point.
Bummer. Mine were made in Texas, so probably not supply issues. The previous ones in Canada.

Has tread width been covered here yet? Toyo doesn't list it in the specs on their website. Just because the cross-section is 1.3 inches wider on the 315s doesn't mean the tread width is very different....

I wanted the Toyo 35x11.5s when putting 35s on my Mojave but they just weren't available, I have yet to hear a bad thing about them from ppl using them. I was a big skinny tire fan especially when in a Tacoma.

As for the BFG talk in here meh... I always said I never wanted any BFG tire yet now I find myself driving on KO2's because they came on my new Rubicon XR. In only 3000km on some snow, I can say I won't be getting another set once these are worn.

Anyway, does anybody here have specs on tread width?

Here my jeep in stock wheels and 35x11.5 nittos. It disnt rub at all without a lift but I added a mopar lift with bilstein shocks. Jeep still feels peppy and mpgs didn’t suffer that much. Used to have a sport on 35x12.5 and 18 …. That thing was sluggish

I imagine that had more to do with the gearing, eh?

I pulled these tread widths from Tire Rack as I was doing my research on the Toyo Open Country A/T III:

LT315/70R17 D = 10" (66 lbs)
35x11.5R17 C = 9" (61 lbs)
35x12.5R17 C = 9.8" (59 lbs)

I'm not exactly sure how the 12.5s come in 2 lbs lighter than the 11.5s...it's gotta be a typo, although the 12.5s also only have a max PSI of 35.

Interesting, I would follow up directly with Toyo to get exact specs. Too many sites with errors out there. It is disappointing when manufacturers avoid these details on their posted spec pages.

I actually just went on the Toyo website, and the same specs are listed. They have two 35x12.5x17 tires - C and E loads. A 35 max PSI gives me pause...but the rest of the specs are well within the range of a Gladiator. I can only imagine bringing the truck in for a simple rotation, and the service tech blowing tires up as he tops off the air in them!

7 Lbs Difference, C vs E Load Rating, and 35 vs 65 Max PSI

I'm in Canada, turns out the websites are different ffs! Toyotires.ca doesn't list those specs...

I think I've finally decided on new tires for my wheels - going with the Toyo Open Country AT3...but I'm torn on whether to go with 315/70R17 or 35x11.5x17. For my use case, the JTM is primarily a daily driver with some occasional light trail and over landing. It rarely, if ever, sees any rock crawling, etc. I don't tow anything.

Can anyone help me decide one way or the other? I like the lighter weight of the skinny tires, and I assume the skinny tires would also be slightly better in rain and snow. Both also measure at the same 34.5 inches. Is the only real advantage to the wider tire better dry traction and aesthetics?

If it matters, my wheels are 17x8 +12 w/ 4.97 backspacing.

go 37s! Kidding. So I mount a lot of those 315s on 4Runners and the like. It’s a pretty beefy tire. Performance and efficiency wise thinner is better. But if you like the beef look 315s all day.

Now you're implying we can't run at speed on road or in the dirt because our tires are wide?
JFC.

You have blown this so out of proportion.

It appears said OP and I are more on the same page, which was the point/intention here. Scrolling the forum in general this morning and past, I see a lot that are also feeling the same. Maybe it is what I choose to look at.

There is that.

Like I originally said, “wide tire type guys will not like this, but…”

Have at it.

Done here.

Good day.

I put these on my Rubicon a few months ago and just came back from a 5600 mile, month long, overlanding trip from NC to Utah and back and love how they performed.
Highly recommend!

Thanks for the info. That is very helpful since i was going back and forth on what tires to get. I am getting them buy 3 get 1 for $1 from my jeep dealer. That special runs to the end of this month.

Get whichever one is cheaper. You won’t feel as bad when going to 37s in 6 months and regretting your decision to buy 35s in the first place.

I've had them on my Mojave now for about 2 months, and I honestly could not be happier with them...they're super comfortable on road, track very well, and are much quieter than the BFG muds I originally had on the Mojave or the BFG A/Ts I have had on my last 4 Jeeps. No issues with the light off road stuff I do either.

I'm also glad I went with the lighter 11.5 inch vs 315s as gas mileage has not changed (after adjustment for the tire size using a JScan), and acceleration is not noticeably different. I obviously didn't get the Mojave for its power or efficiency, but every little bit helps.
